With a household of girls I have to admit that I’m not that familiar with Chuck & Friends. However, it looks like Kiana has a new DVD to love in The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Friends to the Finish. As soon as the DVD started, Kiana was glued to the television set.

This 110 minute DVD contains 10 episodes that deal with team work, friendship, and a little friendly competition. The first thing we noticed was how simple and wholesome the animation and storylines were. There were no special effects, no overpowering music, no inappropriate language of any kind. Just good clean old-fashion fun.

Episodes:

Race to the Race- Chuck and Biggs are off to watch Rally compete in an important race competition. However, along the way Biggs gets stuck in a mud ditch and Chuck must decide between helping his friend or watching the big race. What will he decided?

The Best – Who is the best truck? Chuck, Biggs, Rowdy, and Digger find a trophy and they all want to keep it. They decide to have a race to see who is the best truck but find out that each of them is best at a particular kind of race track. It takes Rowdy to teach the group that they all have their very own special talents.

Chuck’s Big Break – Chuck wants to be just like his big brother Rally so when Rally’s coach comes to visit, Chuck is determined to show him what a great race truck he can be. Because of all the gimicks and tricks that Chuck’s friends suggest the first two run don’t go as well as planned. However, when Chuck decides to just be himself and do his best he shows coach what a great little . . . and fast . . . truck he can be.

Game On – The gang is bored and decide to play a video game to pass the time. Eventually, the realize that playing the video game in real life can be even more fun when they use their imaginations!

Revving Up Rally – Big brother Rally is going through a slump so he’s return home for a little rest and relaxation. Chuck and his friends try to come up with ideas on how to increase Rally’s confidence and decide to fix the race track to make Rally look faster than he really is. However, as much as Rally appreciated his brother’s help, he tells Chuck that the only way to truly get better is not through tricks but through hard work.

Grandpa Treadwell – Chuck’s Grandpa is coming for a visit to attend the Truck Show. There are many awards to be given out including Best in Show. So when Chuck and his friends see how Grandpa has aged they are determined to train him to be faster and stronger. In the end, Chuck and friends learn that winning isn’t everything.

Chuck’s Back Up – Chuck wants to see the set-up for the race track but his parents want him to do a little maintenance work (check-up) first. However, his impatience wins over and he decides to put off the tune-up for another day and heads on out the door. As he’s going through the ramps he finds himself stuck in reverse and tries to hide it from his father. Eventually he learns that everyone needs to take good care of themselves in order to stay healthy.

Need for Speed -  This episode was a little different in that it taught my girls something educational – the meaning of the word “friction” and how it relates to gears. They also problem solve to see what is the best way to get their model car to go faster so that it can win the model car race. There’s a hood ornament on the line so they’re determined to find a way.

Vertie’s Stunt School – Uncle Vertie is visiting to perform in an upcoming stunt show and the gang has been invited to perform as well. This means getting some stunt lessons from Vertie which they find is not easy. So when Vertie calls it quits for the day, he tells Chuck to keep practicing . . . but his friends prefer to play. In the end, Chuck learns that practice and determination makes all the difference.

Dancing Wheels – Chassis (new character) is practicing for a dance audition and she learns some cool new moves from the boys. In return, she teaches them how dancing can help them with their stunts as well. They learn that dancing and racing can be combined to suit everyone.

I have to say that after watching these 10 episodes I can now say I know pretty much everything there is to know about Chuck & Friends. We really enjoyed the social elements of the stories and how the various trucks really stood up for each other in the true meaning of friendship. It also gave me a new appreciation for something other than princesses. These episodes are truly family-oriented with absolutely no violence involved. We loved it!
