Terro Ant Killer Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentors #86: helenlam & #115: Lily Kwan!

We have a major ant problem and even though they gross me out it wouldn’t bother me as much if they didn’t bite Kiana every chance they got. My poor child ends up with welt looking bumps on her body that look and feel very itchy. Once it got so bad that her teacher asked if she had the Chicken Pox.

I’ve tried everything but they keep coming back. I even make sure that the kids only eat at the dinner table and sweep and mop after amost every meal. Keeping these ants at bay can be so exhausting!

So when I had the opporutnity to review Terro Ant Killer, I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve heard from other bloggers who had great results so I was very eager to try it out.

We received the Liquid Ant Baits and Outdoor Ant Killer Shaker Bag. The first thing I did was place the Liquid Ant Baits inside my home. It was very easy to use. I just had to clip off a small section of the baits and place them where I thought the ants were coming from. I liked that these liquid traps were pre-filled to prevent me from having to handle poisonous materials. I just had to make sure I put them out of reach and out of sight of the kids. You know how curious they can get! That’s why I liked that the design was pretty flat which allowed me to place some of the baits under the stove and refrigerator.

The Outdoor Ant Killer Shaker Bag was just as easy to use. Just open up the the zip-loc type bag, turn upside down, and start shaking the contents around the perimeter of your home. When I saw the inside of the bag I was concerned that once I turned it upside down the entire contents would empty out. However, it was pretty cool the pellets fell out only when you shook the bag. And even then it wasn’t a tremendous amount. This helped to control the amount of pellets you wanted to distribute. Once that was done, all I need to do was lightly water the treated area. Luckily, it was about to drizzle so I just let Mother Nature help me out.

I have to say that I didn’t realize how strong these pellets were. About a hour later, I was outside and I noticed a dead Gecko lying in the pellets. It was kind of sad but at least I know it works. Even the baits inside the house was attracting ants within the hour. I could see those tiny little buggers crawling all over the traps and unknowingly taking the bait back to the rest of their colony.

After a few days, I noticed a significantly decreased amount of ants around the house. And after about 2 weeks they were gone completely. The only thing I would recommend is to be careful where you place them. I had a bait right inside the back door and one of my cats must have stepped on it. I found the liquid all over the floor. However, since the other baits were placed where the cats couldn’t reach them, they stayed intact.

So far the Terro Ant Killer has been working like a charm and I’m so relived that Kiana’s not getting bit anymore. Thank you Terro!

I’m so glad you don’t have to worry about Kiana getting bit anymore! I hate ants. I think it’s so annoying when they are inside. Bugs belong outside only! Of course I don’t really have the problem to the extent you have it but I dislike them just the same. Glad you found something that works well for you!

Poor Kiana. She’s so sweet the stinkin ants couldn’t resist. In Florida we had pesky tiny ghost ants. They were like “clear” in color and they got into absolutely everything. Terro was the only thing that worked.

We have ants to and I have tried everything. I am most interested in trying Perimeter Ant Bait Plus, maybe treating them outside would work better than treating them inside.

The Carpenter Ant & Termite Killer Spray is the one I find the most interesting. Nasty Termites and it costs so much for the Terminix guys. I know because we used them when we first noticed come evidence that they were once under the crawl space of our home.
I’d like to respray just to be sure, but Terminix is too expensive and so is another commercial bug spray company in our town.

Every Spring my kitchen and bathrooms are invaded by ants. It is disgusting and I can never get rid of them no matter what I do.

I would like to try the Outdoor Ant Killer Spray for the perimeter of house and then maybe the ants won’t come in at all and that would be a huge blessing!

main entry: Oh I know your pain, we hav those big black ants just like you see on the box cover and I wondered if they were sugar ants or what! But now I know they are called carpenter ants. They are under our house and just this weekend as it warmed up to 60 degreees outside they have come alive and are in my kitchen as I speak, I have killed a bunch just today, I get so tired of making sure no food is left out and dishes rinsed. My husband has tried everything, the granules work some what but not completly so I am up for trying anything that will kill these agravating things. I saw That Terro makes lots of choices so I think maybe for under our home the “Ant Dust” would work so I’ll be sure to try it. Thanks

the most interesting is the ant dust. wondering what happens to it if it is not consumed by ants — just sits benignly in the crack and stays viable?
