This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentor #55 Cass!

I’ve noticed Tabatchnick Soups in the freezer section of our local grocery stores for over a year now, but I honestly didn’t know much about them. 75% of grocery stores around the United States carry Tabatchnick soups so, chances are you’ve seen them as well!

About Tabatchnick Foods

Tabatchnick Fine Foods is a family owned business passed down through generations. Where did  it begin? With the current owners’ Great-Grandmother, of course! Over a century ago she began preparing her delicious soups for family members and friends. There’s a reason her soups were very popular among locals:  they were all made from the finest and freshest natural ingredients available!

Four generations later, the family still takes great pride in their soups, searching the world over to provide their customers with the same simple, yet delicious soups with the exact same natural ingredients. Unlike many other soups, Tabatchnick soups are produced in small batches and always closely watched by a family member to ensure that each and every spoonful is of the same high quality!

There are over three dozen varieties of soups produced by Tabatchnick with several Kosher, vegan, and vegetarian choices, too! In addition to the frozen varieties, there are also aseptic soups and broths that do not require refrigeration and have a long shelf-life.

My Thoughts

My boys are such picky eaters that I am often afraid to stray from the usual dinner foods. This review gave me the opportunity or, I should say, an excuse, to try out something different! I am attempting to help my husband eat healthier foods so, I chose two vegetarian varieties of soup.

The first we tried was the Vegetarian Chili. I have tried many vegetarian chili recipes in the past and this one definitely competes with the best of them. The packages of Tabatchnick soup comes with two frozen packets so, we were able to try the chili on its own and also with my one of my husband’s favorite meals, hot dogs! I definitely recommend the chili as an addition to other meals and recipes, such as a 7-layer chip dip or on hot dogs and hamburgers. My husband is not a huge fan of beans, but even he admitted the 180 calorie, low-fat veggie chili closely resembled other chilis when added to other dishes. It’s a great alternative to other chilis filled with disgusting additives and saturated fats.

The second soup we tried was the Barley & Mushroom Soup. I actually threw a dinner party and served the Barley & Mushroom Soup as an appetizer. Everyone absolutely loved it, even my picky eaters! I added a bit of freshly minced garlic when cooking the soup and it was just bursting with flavor. Keep in mind, you have to be mushroom fans for this one, which we are! You can definitely taste the mushrooms and there are plenty to go around.

I’m a huge fan of organics and natural ingredients for my family so, I was very happy to see that Tabatchnick soups provided their customers with not only natural ingredients, but so many healthy choices. It’s amazing how many soups on the market today have an incredible amount of sodium, fats, and cholesterol.  I used to think that you sacrifice flavor when choosing healthier foods, but this simply is not true. Now that I’m a parent and my husband has to watch his diet for health reasons, finding healthy alternatives is more important than ever. I definitely recommend giving Tabatchnick soups a try. You will not be disappointed!
