Check your spark plugs. Old, dirty and worn spark plugs can reduce fuel economy by up to 2 miles per gallon.
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. You can improve you gas mileage by 1-2 percent.

this is great
Take a load off. Heavier vehicles require more energy to move, so carrying around excess weight will affect your mileage. Empty out your trunk of all unnecessary items. An extra 100 pounds of weight in your trunk will reduce your vehicle’s fuel economy by 1-2 percent.

Reduce your speed by 5-15 mph and try to plan driving routes ahead of time to avoid hilly roads.
Don’t bother topping off when filling your car’s gas tank.
Take care of your car (tune ups, oil changes, tires), slow down, telecommute (if possible) a day or two a week, reduce needless trips by being prepared when you shop (ex: 5 trips to the home improvement store can probably be reduced to 1 with careful planning),

Don’t pay more for premium grade gasoline if your vehicle does not require it.
Tighten your gas cap… So simple and common sense, but easy to overlook.
Don’t pay more for premium grade gasoline if your vehicle does not require it. The more expensive gas will cost you more money without boosting performance or fuel economy. Thanks for the contest!

No matter how tempted you are to speed away from a newly changed green light, exercise restraint and gradually accelerate.
