‘TANKS’ for these fabulous tips!
My favorite tip is … “your vehicle uses more gas to idle than it does to restart the engine”, I was always told the opposite.
I’m also going to share with my hubby the ‘don’t top off’ tip, as he is famous for adding a few more squirts after the auto shut off.

inflate tires fully.
tighten your gas cap
read the owners manual
Check your tires to make sure they are inflated properly.
One of the biggest no-no’s that people do is: ‘Don’t bother topping off when filling your car’s gas tank. The additional gas has the potential to leak out if overfilled.’ Very bad for the environment! and a waste of money. As soon as the gas pump clicks, its full. Great giveaway, thanks!

I’m due for my first oil change in my new crossover so I was drawn to: “Use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. You can improve you gas mileage by 1-2 percent. “
Just what I need for my grandsons new (used) car.
Ckeck your tire pressure on a regular basis.
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. You can improve you gas mileage by 1-2 percent.
The first suggestion is to stay home and don’t drive. If you do drive – avoid a “lead” foot.
Use your cruise control as often as possible.
Take the bus or the train whenever possible, that really saves gas.
don’t top off the fuel tank when filling up, the excess fuel can leak out because the tank is too full.
I use the middle grade of gas because that is what my car manual says to use and I don’t want to risk not using it with my 10+ year old car with 160k miles on it. I was trying this gas saving tip on my last tank of gas, but I don’t know if it did much good. I was accelerating slower than normal trying not to shoot the RPMs up too high and I also would get up to (or above) the speed limit, then coast as long as I could before I go too far below the speed limit.
Don’t bother topping off when filling your car’s gas tank. The additional gas has the potential to leak out if overfilled.
check your spark plugs

Take the load of but do carpool, Thanks
When Parked turn your engine off, instead of just setting there letting it run
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. You can improve you gas mileage by 1-2 percent.
Keep to the speed limit on the highway. No tickets, and better gas mileage is the payoff.
Did not know this – Inflate your tires fully
I refill the tank when it gets down to half. Its supposed to be better gas mileage when its kept full.
Check your tires and inflate them fully.
I am an email subscriber to your site.
Ride a bike, that is how I have been getting to work
I think it is most important to make sure your tires are fully inflated
Don’t pay more for premium grade gasoline if your vehicle does not require it. On the way to Boston this summer so this is a cool package to have!!
check tire pressure
fill up your gas tanks at night
gas expands in heat and when your paying per gallon which is a volume measurement you will actually be getting less once the gas you have paid for cools down and contracts.
thats why you may notice your gas level reading drops at night but may be back to normal during daytime
combine trips and walk more
Drive 5 mph below posted speedlimit. Saves a lot of tas
Try to anticipate red lites by slowing down early.
Make sure your gas cap is closed.
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. (Something my husband does already!)
Great tips!!

Don’t drive so fast – 45 mph is the optimum speed for good gas mileage.
Inflate tires fully!
keep tires inflated properly
drive slower, makes a big diff. in gas mileage
Avoid excess idling. Idling gets zero miles/km per gallon/litre. Additionally your vehicle uses more gas to idle than it does to restart the engine. So if you plan to sit for an extended period of time, turn your engine off.
Keep your tires properly inflated!!! (oops, I better have hubby check mine:)

slow down & ease up on that gas pedal, coast downhill & stay in the right lane!
My vehicle requires premium gas but its still less expensive than our 4×4 V8 Ram truck so we have the truck parked and only use for necessity. Also not using the a/c unless its really hot saves a lot of gas.
make sure you have spare tire and it is inflated
I keep my tank above half full to avoid excess evaporation.
Tighten your gas cap and keep it in good condition to avoid loss or evaporation of fuel.
Keep your tires fully inflated!

Reduce your speed by 5-15 mph and try to plan driving routes ahead of time to avoid hilly roads.
Don’t bother topping off when filling your car’s gas tank.
Take care of your car (tune ups, oil changes, tires), slow down, telecommute (if possible) a day or two a week, reduce needless trips by being prepared when you shop (ex: 5 trips to the home improvement store can probably be reduced to 1 with careful planning),
