I’ve been trying really hard the last year or so to go all natural with any makeup or beauty products that I use in my home. This includes everything from shampoo to sunscreen to not wearing perfume anymore. So, when I heard that Skin MD Natural was over 90% natural, uses food grade ingredients, and is hypoallergenic and fragrance free I was willing to give it a try.
Here’s what Skin MD Natural has to say about this unique “shielding lotion”:
A shielding lotion is unlike any other conventional, artificial moisturizers because it works with the skin to naturally moisturize and heal. Most conventional, artificial moisturizers only add moisture to the surface of the skin, but do little to repair the skin’s natural barrier against moisture robbing irritants. Continued use of artificial moisturizers can cause the skin to actually begin producing less of its own natural oils, thinking that the skin has enough moisture. This can cause skin to form a dependence on the moisturizer for hydration. Skin MD Natural breaks the dry skin cycle by working to help restore skin’s natural protective abilities by bonding to the outer layer of skin, strengthening skins natural barrier against toxins and irritants that can dry the skin, while locking in the skin’s natural oils.
My Review:
I live in a very cold dry winter climate and my hands get so dried out they start to crack and itch very quickly. I’ve been using a botanical lotion nightly, but it’s so thick and heavy I just can’t use it during the day without feeling like I’m greasing up everything I touch. The first thing I noticed about Skin MD Natural (0ther than it’s noticeable lack of smell) was that it was light and smooth and “soaked in” very quickly. My hands felt a bit tacky for a minute or so, but nothing compared to the grease that you normally get from a lotion.
My hands have definitely been helped by using this lotion although I haven’t given it the full couple weeks trial they recommend, mostly because I was on Christmas vacation and didn’t receive it until I got home! With once or twice daily application I am quite hopeful that this year I won’t have cracking hurting hands all winter!
Skin MD Natural comes in a 4 oz bottle either with or without sunscreen (15 SPF). They say that this size of bottle should last 1 to 2 months. With how little of this smooth lotion you need to cover your hands I definitely think it will last that long or longer. Although I should also mention that it’s not just for your hands. Use it wherever you have dry skin on your body.
I also love the fact that they list all the ingredients on their website with an explanation of what it is and what it’s for. Using food or medical grade ingredients for everything makes me more confident that this lotion is safe for my family.

I love that it adds a layer of protection for your skin which I really need in the harsh winter!
I like the way the “Shielding” action in the lotion keeps the moisture robbing irritants away from the skin.
My favorite feature would be the SPF +15. Both my parents have had skin cancer, so I’m always on the look out for products that work great and protect my skin!

It shileds our skin. It keeps irritants out, and locks the moisture in.It’s also a protective barrier , and protects our skin in the winter time. Sounds great.

A Shielding Lotion is far more effective as a dry skin treatment than conventional moisturizing lotions or protective creams. If you suffer from dry skin, you know that just using a moisturizing lotion doesn’t solve the problem.

I love that it’s not oily or sticky, doesn’t sit on top of your skin leaving a greasy residue on everything you touch, it doesn’t rub or wash off easily, is hypoallergenic, fragrance, colorant and paraben free and dermatology tested.

A moisturing facter that is 6 times greater than glycerin! boy would that be great on my dry skin
I love that it doesn’t have added perfumes. I just bought some recently and I love it. I’d really like to win an extra bottle, because my hands have been really dry and chapped this winter.
