Simon Flash by Hasbro (Giveaway)
We’ve always loved playing Simon since it’s such an easy concept for the girls to understand. You just watch to see the color combination that Simon displays and then repeat it. Of course, as the game progresses the combinations get faster and more difficult. Simon Flash puts a unique twist on this classic family game.
Four electronic cubes utilize light, sound, and changing colors to keep your child having fun and learning new skills during each game. Revolutionary Wonder-Link technology allows each cube to know where you’ve placed it, when you win a round, and keeps track of the score.
There are 4 games included in Simon Flash each one corresponding to a different color cube:
- Simon Lights Off (yellow) – Solve each puzzle by lining up the cubes in the correct order so that all the lights turn off.
- Simon Shuffle (red) – Solve each puzzle by lining up the colors in the original order displayed. The cubes will light up one by one with a particular color. Once the they’re done the color will change you’ll have to line up the cubes in the order you just saw. The more correct you get the faster the game goes.
- Simon Secret Color (blue) – Solve the puzzle by figuring out the order to place the cubes in. As you get them in the right place, each cube turns to show the same color.
- Simon Classic (green) – Correctly repeat an increasing sequence of colors.
When you first take out the cubes and remove the plastic tabs on the batteries, they all start flashing the four different colors. Place them side by side and they’ll flash only their respective color. Select which game (by color) that you want to play and press that cube.
The kids’ favorite game was Simon Shuffle because it was simple enough for Kiana (5) to play yet challenging enough that even Kacie (9) had to think twice about the order. Of course, when the sequence started getting longer and faster Kiana needed a little help but she had fun rearranging the blocks anyway.
My favorite game was Lights Off because it reminded me of one of my favorite games called Mastermind. I just lined up the blocks and see if any of the lights went out. If they did, I kept those blocks in those positions and rearranged the rest until all the lights went out. I could play that game all day . . . and I did!
What we really liked about Simon Flash is how portable it is. It comes with it’s own storage case and doesn’t take up much room in my bag. It’s perfect for sleepovers, visits to Grandma’s house, or on the plane. The only thing is that you’ll need a flat surface to play on so using it in the car can be a little tough. I also like that it comes with a mute button which is perfect for when you’re playing in public and don’t want everyone to hear all the beeping going on. And to save battery power, the cubes will shut off after 3 minutes of being idle. Definitely a good thing!
It also comes with a little game card that fits right into the carry case just in case you need a reminder on how to play a particular game. I thought that was genius!
