Shenzhen Knives Giveaway
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentor #38: Mary B!
I feel that if you don’t have the right cooking tools, you could be putting in more time and effort than is really needed when making family meals. For me, one of the most important kitchen accessory is a sharp and durable knife. So when I found out about the Hawaii based company, Shenzhen Knives, I wanted to learn more.
Shenzhen Ceramic Knives can be used by anyone for most slicing and cutting needs. These ceramic knives are made of an advanced ceramic called zirconia, the second hardest material known to man next to diamond. The material’s properties make it particularly resistant to wear and tear, which means that a ceramic blade can hold its edge much longer than a steel blade without the need for re-sharpening
These knives are perfect for all your cooking needs and will not rust or affect the taste of your food. Plus it’s very lightweight and the comfortable handles makes using these knives a breeze. In addition, I really like the white colored blades – very chic looking.
So if you’re looking for a quality set of knives that are also reasonably priced, check out Shenzhen Knives today.

Shenzhen Knives has generously donated a 2-piece ceramic knife & peeler gift set ($45 value) to one lucky winner. To enter:

An important tip: Never use your ceramic knife to pry or cut into bones as this may cause the ceramic blade to chip or the tip to snap off.

I kind of like this tip, it makes sense but I don’t really do it often:
Always use a wood or plastic cutting board, do not use on your china or ceramic plates.

You should not put any high quality kitchen knife in the dishwasher. They are not made for it.

WOW, you really have to be careful with them. I found it interesting that it said you could just wash in soap and water or wipe the knife with a clean cloth(what about a built up of germs just wiping it clean).

I learned not strike a hard surface with the ceramic blade (either sideways to crush garlic or blade-down to chop bones). If excessive chipping occurs, the ceramic knife will feel dull when cutting.
Do not use on frozen foods or hard foods.

When slicing, do not force the cut. Too much force may snap the blade.

I thought this was most interesting: Ceramic knives are very easy to clean since food does not stick to the surface. Wash with mild soap and water or wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Learned that when using the ceramic knife in slicing, I should NOT force the cut. If too much force is applied, the ceramic blade may snap as it will not bend or ‘give’.
