leapfrogWe’ve been big fans of Leapfrog products ever since Kacie was a baby because they have a way of making learning interactive and fun. Their brand new DVD Math Adventure to the Moon is no exception.

DVD DESCRIPTION

Join Tad & Lily as they blast off on an exciting educational adventure! Tad and Lily need the perfect collection of things to take to school for their math assignment. When they finally decide on moon rocks, there’s just one problem—how will they get them? With some magical help from their firefly friend, Edison, they board a rocket ship to start their quest. Soon the twins learn that math is everywhere, even in outer space! Watch as they use their skills in counting, sorting, skip counting and recognizing patterns to overcome obstacles, find new friends and make the trip back to Earth!

OUR REVIEW

The message of this video was “math is everywhere”. And they’re right. I’ve never really thought about it before but now I look around and I can see math in everyday things. In fact, after watching this video the girls went around the house trying to find things dealing with numbers, sequences, and sorting.

Being a flight attendant, I really enjoyed the space ship ride where they made references to flying on a plane and announcements we would usually make to passengers. It was pretty funny and something I could totally relate to. I also liked that they incorporated various types of math situations like counting, adding, sorting, and sequences. They repeated this throughout the show to help the kids get the message.

Tad and Lily are great characters that help to make the video interesting. They’re funny, engaging, and very colorful. However, our favorite part were the catchy songs throughout the video. Kiana loved dancing around the house and even I found myself tapping my foot along to the beat.

All in all, we really enjoyed this video and Kiana has been watching it every day since. I guess I’m going to have to look into getting more Leapfrog DVDs. I don’t mind, though. It’s not often you’ll find fun and educational shows that the kids love to watch.

I always scored higher in math than in reading. I like it because you use calculations everyday. Like how many more miles you can get in with that last gallon of gas. Or where to by milk that doesn’t cost 3 dollars a gallon.

I like math because you use it everywhere in life… if it’s in recipes, my puzzles (yeah..I’m a math freak), the checkbook, the dreadful scales (did I gain or lose?). It’s challenging, fun, and necessary.
