Giveaway: Jishaku Magnetic Game
This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Melanie @ Ramblings of a Busy Woman.
Congratulations!
If I had to describe Jishaku in only one word, it would be “hilarious”!
From the site: “Jishaku, Japanese for magnet, uses finely polished hematite magnets for playing pieces. There are several variations of the game but the most popular is “I’m Out”. While alternating turns with your opponent(s), the goal of the game is to place magnets onto the game base – without letting any magnets connect. ”
From the moment we opened the box, we were hooked! I was blogging when the package arrived and decided to humor Girlie Girl by playing it “just once” with her. An hour later, we were still playing and laughing like crazy! Now, you know that anything that can get me away from the computer for that long must be pretty amazing!
Basically, you take turns placing these smooth shiny magnets on to a foam board and hope it doesn’t attract the other magnets already there. When it does, it’s such a surprise that it kind of makes you jump. It’s such an easy game to play and goes by pretty quickly that you end up playing over and over. It’s one of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time!
Until July 31st, enter the code AILIFE at checkout and receive 10% off your Jishaku purchase.

I like the idea of edges first. The children can relate to this like a puzzle
I’ve mentioned you and Jishaku on my blog
Melanie’s last blog post..Rambling of a Game Playing Mom
Larger stones first
I think I would start at the edges first with the big ones. THANKS
Larger Stones First- saves smaller, presumably less strong magnets, for last when the board is fuller
Use larger stones first when playing

The Adjuster: A Player using this method will seek to methodically place their stone in multiple holes, rotating the stone as they do so, to help them determine the hole target least likely to result in two or more magnets coming together.

The game sounds really fun. My daughter would have a blast!
Natalie’s last blog post..Totally Freaky Experience
Slow movements coupled with a testing of holes, where the magnet is rotated to determine its impact on surrounding stones, yields the best results.
Thanks
Skilled players learn to use magnetic force in their favor- repelling the magnets closest to them without forcing them into other magnets
Flat side down.
I swear, this game sounds like a steroid-ridden version of Spill the Beans (or something along that lines). I want one! Err… I want one for the kids!
Nicole (SAHM Ramblings)’s last blog post..One Photographer. One Gold Digger.
They suggest using the larger stones first! Thanks for the contest!
the speed demon, some who rushes to place thier stone.
Remove larger stones first.
Edges First- player will seek to place all of his or her stones in the outer holes near the frame
Sounds like fun, I hope I get to try it out!
Look for the chance to place your magnet in the position that will most likely cause your opponent to choose a hole where he has to place a magnet next to another one. Sounds like fun!
Play slowly but committed!
the dropper
flat edges down! This looks like a great game
“Flat side down” to make it less likely the stone will jump out of its hole.
You need to learn to use magnet force in your favor. I wanna play.
Larger stones first
use the larger stones afirst
Blocking an Opponent
use the larger stones first. I also liked the speed demon way of playing. Thats how I would play
1 Star. This method is disruptive of magnetic force and encourages other stones to jump and can result in multiple magnet connections.
My kids love these stones, we bought them some when we saw them at a gift store.
The younger cousins wanted them so they ended up giving most away so the others would also have fun playing with them.
This would be great to play in car when we travel 1200 miles one way for a wedding.
Thank you for a chance to win.
Edges first
Use smaller magnets or put flat edges down.

Watch the reaction of the other stones as you place one to see if they’re going to jump.
Moving slowly has less disruptive impact on the magnetic force of surrounding stones. So, be careful and take it slowly.
This sounds like a good game. Thanks for the chance. The tip I remember is edges first.
Striving\Tessa’s last blog post..I am feeling a little more like myself…

A game after my heart and who wouldn’t love a game like this that is fun and thrilling to play.
Thanks for a great contest.
Place the magnets flat side down. This eliminates the magnets from jumping out of the holes.
