logoThe first time my mother-in-law mentioned that it wasn’t safe to let girls take bubble baths, I was dumbfounded. Never in my life had I heard such a thing (they’re bubbles! It’s fun!) so I went straight to the internet to prove that she must have heard false information.

The results continued to shock me, as site after site confirmed that ingredients in traditional bubble bath can irritate the opening of a child’s urethra and can lead to urinary tract infections, particularly in girls. Baffled that I had not known this before, it became very important to me to find bubble bath that did not contain harsh chemicals and wouldn’t be a health risk for my daughter because she definitely loved her bubble baths.

What I found is that there weren’t that many options available, particularly that didn’t cost a fortune (after all, half the fun of bubble bath is putting a bunch in to create a big bubbly sea, right?). I ended up with one that is available at a big box store near us that doesn’t quite cost an arm and a leg (well, an arm and maybe half a leg. I do still cringe when I pull it down off the shelf) and the “calming scent” of it isn’t too overpowering.

Had Fresh Organics been around when I began my bubble bath search, I would have been able to rest easier.

After Jeff Wilkinson and his wife, Michelle, were anxious to discover what was causing their son’s unexplained allergies, rashes and chronic colds, Fresh Organics was born in 2008 as a way for them to share their Organic Baby products with the world. Free of the most common allergens (milk, dairy derivatives, eggs, nut oils, soy, wheat and gluten), Organic Baby products are also color and dye free, which I like. If it isn’t necessary to have harmful chemicals in products, why would I use them? Particularly on my girls’ delicate skin?

holding bottle squareBig Sister E’s eyes lit up when she found out we had a new bubble bath to use and she was immediately ready to hit the tub and try it out. Our first test was smell and Organic Baby Bubble Bath passed wonderfully as the organic chamomile, lavender and sweet orange is subtle and soothing, making me want to take deep breaths and relax.

The next test, an important one, is the quantity of bubbles. A small dollop of Bubble Bathsquare hand went under the running water and even my husband commented on how many bubbles were formed from it. Organic Baby definitely passed with flying colors, as Big Sister E was happy to show us just how many bubbles she was surrounded by.

The final test was my own, as I read the ingredients of Organic Baby Bubble Bath while Big Sister E happily played in her mounds of bubbles. Everything in this tearless formula is organic or plant derived and it works together to replenish moisture and protect against dryness. Particularly with the cold, dry weather rapidly approaching, I appreciate that Organic Baby products will help keep my girls’ skin soft and nourished (and clean!) this winter.

As well as the Organic Baby Calming Bubble Bath, Fresh Organic’s line of Organic Baby products includes Organic Baby Conditioning Shampoo and Body Wash, Bottom Balm and Velvety Soft Moisturizing Baby Lotion and we were fortunate to receive a Travel Pack in order to sample them all.travel pack

The natural, hypoallergenic, tear-free formula of the Shampoo and Body Wash (I love when shampoo can also be used as body wash for kids, it just makes sense) is gentle and perfect for cleaning soft baby skin and hair. The Organic Baby Bottom Balm is filled with organic oils and vitamins to protect baby’s delicate skin, prevent diaper rash and soothe sensitive areas. Finally, the Moisturizing Lotion is smooth and nourishing and great for keeping young skin soft and safe from dry weather.

At Fresh Organics, their philosophy is simple: “We believe that every choice we make shapes our future, the future of our families and the future of this planet.” It is critical to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals, particularly for babies and children, and as their items are Certified Organic, they therefore “ensure that any product that we make or sell is 100% safe for long term use by any age person, from newborn up.”

Along with their admirable philosophy, Fresh Organics works hard to produce their organic line in the most economical way possible and pass that savings on to their customers.  They state that they “deliver our products 20% – 50% lower than anything remotely comparable” and I have to agree. The 8 ounce container of Bubble Bath that we received sells on the Fresh Organics website for $7.99, which really is nearly half the cost of what I have been paying for organic bubble bath in the store.

For more information on Fresh Organics and Organic Baby and their story, information on living well and chemicals to avoid or to purchase their products for babies, men or women, visit the Fresh Organics website.
