Even though I only have daughters, that doesn’t stop them from playing with cars, trains, and dinosaurs. One of the things that they especially enjoy playing with are anything with race tracks. I don’t know, maybe it has to do with the way their father drives. In any case, we recently had the opportunity to review a brand new line of toys by Cepia (makers of Zhu Zhu Pets) called DaGeDar.
DaGeDar is simultaneously a racing game, a collectible, and a gang of unpredictable creatures woven into an action-packed adventure!
We received a DaGeDar basic ball set, track set, launcher, a spinner, and a carrying case to try out for ourselves. I have to admit that we were a little confused at first. The directions were pretty basic and we would have benefited from something a little more detailed. However, we were able to figure it out after a while and the kids couldn’t wait to play it! The tracks and parts are all interchangeable so you can design your very own race course.
The High Speed Stunt Jump Track is designed to make your DaGeDar ball make a loop-de-loop right into a score funnel. The height of the starting point is controlled by the user and it’s up to you to make your ball gain speed and traction. I thought it looked pretty impossible to aim it correctly but my nephew got it in on his first try! Way to go Keenan!
When we got home, Kiana and Kaila wanted to play again so we set it up using the television stand as our launching point.
Since we have hard wood floors it was a little harder to keep the track in place but they had a blast anyway. Here’s a really short video of them playing. It’s not the best video since Kaila kept taking away the score funnel but at least it gives you a better idea of what this toy is all about.
The Rapid Fire Launcher will propel your DaGeDar ball at high speeds as you battle your opponent. I liked how we were able to load it up with multiple balls but it was a little difficult to pull back the trigger. Keenan (9) was able to do it but Kiana (5) had a hard time. She was so busy concentrating on pulling back the mechanism that she couldn’t control her aim. Maybe after playing it for a while it will loosen up a bit?
The DaGeDar balls come in various sets all with different themes. The goal here is to collect as many as you can and trade them with family and friends. There’s also a carrying case that you can use to transport 3 DaGeDar balls.
So whether you have boys or girls, if they love fast-paced toys then they’ll love DaGeDar!
