This is our 1st year homeschooling, so there isn’t much I have to do to prepare them. I just need to make sure all the curriculum is in order, schedules & lessons plans are ready, & printables printed. My girls have it easy! LOL

Well, my kid isn’t ready for school yet… but being a teacher I’d say… don’t forget to keep your kids reading and doing interesting academic type things during the summer! You don’t have to make them do worksheets or anything, but keep their minds engaged! It makes it so much easier to get back in the swing of learning!

Well, my kids are still too young for school, so we don’t do much in the way of preparing for back-to-school yet! I always love buying new office/school-type supplies though!!!

The best way to get my kiddos ready for back to school is to start having them go to bed at a decent hour two weeks before school starts.

We talk about school starting back about two weeks prior to the first day and I help my daughter set everything out that she needs (clothes, lunch box, etc.) way ahead of time. She loves 2nd grade!

Awesome! With the kids, we try to talk about how the past grade was, and their fears about the following one. Most kids always imagine the next grade to be harder than the past one.

We start the whole back to school process by picking out a new back pack. It’s fun for them to pick something new out at the store while reminding them school days are around the corner.

Get our supplies in advanced, label everything with their names, put away in the backpacks, and double check our lists. karenmed409(at)comcast(dot)net
besides all of the essential supplies needed, clothes and school supplies, I move bedtime up a little each day so they will be ready to go to bed earlier and get up earlier, as opposed to summer when they were staying up late and getting up late!

I would say that the most important thing I do is to try to foster positive enthusiasm about school starting- making positive comments, and focusing on all that my daughter will LEARN! Yay! Thanks!
We practice our school night and school morning routines before the big day.

Take them to the school several days before school starts so that they can get familiar with the building and know where their classrooms, restrooms, lunchroom, etc are!
