This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentor #140: Jessica!

When I was younger, we didn’t have electronic toys or video games. We played with more simple toys like blocks, puzzles, and dolls. It fostered creative thinking and independent play. That’s why I was happy to find out about Babalu Inc., a 25-year-old toy company specializing in a distinctive selection of felt boards, nesting blocks, toys, advent calendars and children’s books.
OUR REVIEW
We had the opportunity to review two products from their toy line and chose the Forest Fairies Felt Board for Girlie Girl and the ABC Building Blocks for Baby Bug.
Forest Fairies Felt Board: From the moment I saw this felt board, I knew Girlie Girl would love it. The colors were so bright and the characters feminine and pretty. There were also ladybugs, flowers, butterflies, and plant life. The backboard was sturdy and even came with a carrying handle for easy transport. I also liked that it came with a plastic case to put all the pieces in. The only suggestion I would make is to be able to somehow attach the plastic case to the backboard so that the set stays together when not in use.

We were surprised at how well the felt pieces stuck to the board and didn’t fall off when we lifted the board up. And yet, they were easy to rearrange into countless new scenes and stories!

ABC Building Blocks: With Baby Bug in preschool, anything that has the alphabet on it is a big plus for us. This set came with 10 blocks that nest inside each other. So not only does it help with learning the ABC’s but it also helps with spacial relations because you need to figure out the order of the sizes so that the blocks fit into the next one.

The blocks are made of sturdy laminated cardboard and are decorated with bright colors and pictures that correspond to each letter. There are also objects on the top of each block that allows Baby Bug to practice her counting as well. Alphabets, counting, sizing, and fun all rolled into one cool toy! And with most items priced below $25, these toys would make the perfect holiday gifts for all the kids on your list!
