A Smart Way to Pack a Lunch with Citizenpip
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentor #56: Felecia Digsby!
Kacie doesn’t take a home lunch to school very often but she does need to pack 2 snacks every day – one for recess and one for after school. We usually pack grapes, crackers, or some other type of finger foods for her to munch on. However, I’ve never really liked the idea of using 2 new baggies every single school day. We tried the whole bring-it-home-and-wash-it-out process but that was such a pain! So when I heard about Citizenpip’s Lunch Gear, I thought I’d take a look for myself.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the belief that making small changes in your daily habits can make a significant impact, Citizenpip® offers muck-free reusable lunch gear that makes it easy to pack a waste-free lunch. Created by a mom of three who found herself packing and tossing out a few too many plastic baggies one day, Citizenpip® offers an easy alternative to the disposable lunch. By making it easy to pack a waste-free lunch, our goal at Citizenpip® is to encourage more families to ditch the disposables and go reusable.
OUR REVIEW
We received their Starter Kit ($42) which includes 1 insulated lunch bag, 1 16 oz. stainless steel water bottle, and 4 BPA-free airtight food containers of various sizes (2 – 5 oz, 1 – 8 oz, & 1 – 20 oz). The first thing we noticed was how fun it looked! We selected the Polka Dot design and found it to be bright and colorful. We also liked that the lunch bag is made from a soft flexible material so I know it will fit into Kacie’s backpack. The exterior has been laminated for easy clean-up and you can even use a permanent maker to write your child’s name on it. The double stitched trims and carry handle all add to the overall look of this cool lunch bag.
The 16 oz. stainless steel water bottle was surprisingly light when empty. It has an easy screw top and drinking spout which is great for Kacie’s age group. I also liked that you can fill it with ice and use it as sort of an ice pack to keep your food cold during the day. In the morning we filled Kacie’s water bottle with water and lots of ice and by the time 1st recess came around, she had a bottle full of ice cold water. She said it was so much better than drinking from the standard store bought water bottles we usually pack. Plus she liked that she didn’t have to walk to the school’s water fountain whenever she was thirsty.
However, my favorite part of the Citizenpip Starter Kit is the food containers. The grapes do not get squishy, the crackers do not turn into dust, and we can easily wash the containers and reuse them the very next day. I no longer have to feel guilty about using baggies and tossing them every day. Plus, these containers are airtight, watertight and leak-proof and the snap lids are easy for Kacie to open and close. I like that they’re available in different sizes and sometimes we even use them without the lunch bag. Just fill them up and toss them into your child’s backpack.
Thanks to Citizenpip, I feel like I’m doing my part in going green and saving our Earth’s resources. Plus, the lunch bag designs make packing lunches and snacks so much easier and fun!
