Hooked on Sally’s Salon

Has anyone out there played this game yet? OMG! If you haven’t started, don’t – you’ll get hooked!

I’ve never really been a video game playing girl but it all changed when DH gave me a Nintendo DS Lite for Christmas complete with Brain Age 2. After playing it for a while, I gave up because apparently my brain’s age is 84. Hah! I don’t need a piece of plastic insulting my intelligence.

Then a friend of mine told me about Cake Mania. Like the name suggests, you bake and prepare cakes for customers in various settings. It’s not as easy as it sounds because each person has a different patience and generosity (as in tips) level. It gets complicated when the bakery is full of people demanding their orders. Talk about multi-tasking at it’s best! My favorite part is when you’re able to shop for upgrades to your bakery. Gee, why are you not surprised, huh?

Then along came Sally’s Salon. The downside to this game is that it’s not available for the DS Lite. You have to download and play it on your computer. And we all know that the last thing I need is another reason to be on my laptop. At least with the DS, I can play it when I have some down time at work or anywhere else.

Anyway, I downloaded the free 1 hour trial version just to see what it was all about. When my time was up, I refused to hit the “purchase to continue” button because it’s just another game. At least that’s what I tried to convince myself of. Well, I’m ashamed to say I lasted only 24 hours. Today I purchased the license for $19.99 and I’ve been dyeing, cutting, and styling hair ever since.

How sad, huh? So, if you find that my blogging is starting to dwindle down, you’ll know why. I’m hooked on Sally’s Salon.

Do you play video games? Which one is your favorite?

*Note: This is not a paid post. I wish it were so I could have gotten the download for free. ;-)

Update: Thank you to Cathi for letting me know that this post wasn’t accepting comments. It’s been fixed now! :-)

Sad, sad post! Sad because it’s as if I was reading about myself! I have become addicted to these so called “time management” games. My girls call them time wasting” games. I love the Cake Mania’s, Diner Dash & Sally’s Salon. I also quite enjoy when I am able to upgrade stuff. Sad but true.

I’ve been into video games since I was 7 and we got Nintendo. My favorite games are Donkey Kong, Spyro, and Mario Brothers.

  3. I have always loved to play video games. I bought my big child (husband) a Wii for a combined present last spring. I really enjoy Big Brain Academy for that. I also want to get the new Dr. Mario that you can buy online to use for it, should be a fun new twist from my childhood.

When little I was addicted to Tetris and Dr. Mario on Nintendo. When I was pregnant last spring I bought a game called Zuma and was quite addicted. Any puzzle games are always something that I love.

My husband joked that all I need is a knitting game now ;)

I will have to try this game! I want to be a beautician someday, and so I think I would dig this game! I may break down to buy it, too.

I love video games. Right now my favorites are the Worms Fort for Playstation 2 and the Dance Praise Revolution.

Yes, I admit it…I get sucked into those free hour trial games, too. Only, it gets worse…I’ve found multiple game sites where I can play the same game again for more time…because it is a different site. Sad, sad, I know.

There is a game that I asked my husband for…Chocolatier 2. Love it! Making chocolates and creating my own world wide chocolate empire . . . so much fun!

Usually it is the puzzle games that draw me.

Oh, no, don’t tell me you get addicted like that too! I am currently trying not to feed my addiction to Fashion Story since it won’t work on my macbook, but it is still hard to resist! I’m off to look for Sally’s Salon!

Hate to admit it, but your post made me try, it, and I too, forked over the $$ for the full version. Why is time management more fun when it’s virtual? Must be the upgrades!

I love that game too! But I am too cheap to spend the money, so I just uninstalled it and re-downloaded it. I hope that isn’t cheating, but I can’t afford $20 for a computer game that I shouldn’t be playing because there are so many other things I should be doing.

After Christmas we bought a wii video game system. We bought it because we wanted a system our grandsons could play “nice” with. In other words…not kick, chop and kill each other in screen with. Everyone totally enjoys playing it. We have what we call, wii marathons. Mostly Bowling as a group or Big Brain Academy. Which 7 year old A smokes us on. His memory is amazing!
    Now me?
I play Endless Ocean everyday. At first I thought it was just exploring the ocean. Now I’m out to find all the clues and win!!

  14. I don’t play very many video games at all – only a couple of computer ones from time to time. That being said, I’m in serious ‘want’ of a DS, for no good reason other than they look like fun. :)

  15. That’s awesome. I had the exact same reaction and feelings to one called Magic Match a few years ago. I’m happy to report I still play it and was able to justify the $19.99. :) As a hairstylist I’ll have to check out Sally’s Salon. Sounds fun!

Marissa’s been playing either , one where you bake cakes, or the other, is making sushi for customers.

Then Katelyn, on Nick Jr. I think it’s a Sponge Bob game where you make pizzas to order. She gets a kick out of playing that one.

WELL,since Im addicted to blogging and that takes up about all the spare time…I will say I am kind of getting interested in world or warcraft….I know warcraft. My DH is freak over it…one of those guys. Anywho, its online and the graphics and simulation are amazing. You dont have to go to ‘war’ you can go on quests and stuff. Think kind of hobbits and orcs …lord of the ring stuff. You can certainly be a ‘war’ person…but Im not really. It is just amazing to see all the worlds and graphics and thought that goes into these games.

    Hope you fell better!

LOL! I can completely relate to this! I love both of those games, but recently I found Virtual Villagers at Big Lots for only $6, and I’ve been obsessing over my villagers ever since. I’m supposed to be using my laptop for schoolwork, but when ever no ones around, I have to pop in and check on my villagers’ accomplishments. Definite time waster…

  20. I’ve been playing both those games on shockwave, but I didn’t know Cake Mania was out on DS.

Might not be in Australia yet ~ I’ll have to keep an eye out and then steal my daughter’s DS when she’s doing her homework…lol
