I recently came across a site called Typeracer where you have to type some text taken from a book or movie. As you type, a little car will move along a path to show you your progress. If you want, you can even race against other random people. Needless to say, I’m hooked.
They’re currently working on a program that will allow you to race against your friends. Wouldn’t that be cool? Can you imagine a bunch of us typing our little hearts out all at the same time and trying to make it to the finish line?
Anyway, check it out when you have some free time and let me know how you did.
So far, my best score was 58 wpm. Beat that! ![]()

well, sorry… I did! One of my friends posted this last week and my best score was 80 something.
I don’t like that they are such weird quotes though, it makes it harder. Also, I was trained to double space at the end of sentences and it says that’s an error which totally throws me off. Oh well, it is fun! I’ve seen people do over 100WPM!

I was quite attached to this last week. I have not tried it for a few days. It was a lot of fun and I had a hard time taking myself away from it. I believe one of my high scores was in the 80wpm. My only complaint is that the quotes are strange and they keep repeating without a lot of variety.
Happy Typing!

I ran into this the other week. Its pretty fun. I haven’t done much better than mid 50s. I get really messed up when they put numbers and colons and stuff.
When it is just straight letters I do better.

Oh, that is so much fun! Thanks for sharing. (I love that they use real books/movie quotes…so much more interesting than a typical typing test!)
My best so far is 86WPM…but I have a feeling I can go a little faster if I get in my “zone”. Thanks for finding (yet another) fun computer diversion to occupy my free time!

I still like Sally’s Salon better!
The typing test I like best is http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com. It doesn’t force you to go back and fix your errors. I can type 85+ wpm on that test, with 97% accuracy.

I have to stay away from things like this or I’ll get hooked and never get off the computer. They’ll find me days later, my eyes shriveled and red, my fingers stiff and crooked still typing away trying to beat everyone else….
