Thank you to those who participated in January’s Photo Contest “The New Year”. There were a few entries who submitted their blog’s url instead of their entry url. I tried my best to find the entry post but couldn’t locate it. If this is you, please contact me and I would be more than happy to add it in.

Anyway . . .  here are the submissions:

Welcome To Married Life
Usually the New Year means looking ahead and planning things for me. This year is some of the same (or actually a lot of the same), but in a totally different direction. Because if everything works out smoothly on Friday this will be our new home! Right now I’m dreaming and planning all the things I will do to make this house a home! Of course I can’t forget baby brother who will be joining us in a couple of months. This year will bring a lot of changes, but I’m excited!

This is Mr. Einstein’s grandfather with M. It was taken just this last Christmas, the Christmas we weren’t originally planning on going home for. Mr. Einstein’s grandparents have lots of great-grandchildren, but only two great-grandsons. Of those two great-grandsons, only one carries on the family name. M. So this photo? This memory? Is one I know I will treasure for this new year and for always.

The New Year to me means getting family and friends all together at your house early on New Years Eve, making LauLau’s from scratch all day and steaming them into the night, along with Chicken Long Rice and other Hawaiian food and celebrating at midnight good health, happiness and love throughout the New Year.

The Eclectic Element
For January’s Photography Contest, we were supposed to capture what the New Year meant to us and I was pretty much stumped until yesterday afternoon when I looked outside my window and happened to catch a squirrel digging for long ago stashed items in the melting snow-After a minute or so of digging, the little guy stood up, looked around and dashed away. Right then is when it truly hit me that New Year for me was coming out of our Winter ‘hibernation’ of sorts like this lone squirrel and looking for a new beginning. Yes, we have a recollection of last years hidden items and stored memories strewn about, but it’s better to leave those items in our subconscious and move onto bigger and better things :)

Below you will find the poll where you may cast a vote for your favorite “The New Year” photo. You may vote only once so make your vote count! The winner will be announced on Jan 29th and the winner will receive $20 to Amazon.com, Starbucks, or PayPay.

Next month’s theme: Love Is . . . .

Cool! I wish I had known you were starting this. I might enjoy playing along. For me this particular New Year means starting over and I was in the process of a trans-Pacific move (I guess since my stuff hasn’t arrived I’m still in the process)!
