The Not-So-Friendly Skies

Well, I’m finally home and all I can say is . . . Boy, am I tired.

I tell you, traveling on other air carriers sure makes me appreciate the one that I work for. I may be a little biased but I think the airlines I work for has the best service in the industry. We’re always receiving comments from passengers saying how much they enjoyed their flight or how much fun the crew seemed to be having and what great service they received. I thought, isn’t it the same on every airline? Apparently, not.

On one of the many flights I’ve taken in the past few days, a passenger decided to order five items from the snack cart. The flight attendant who took the order, turned around and told the galley flight attendant (the person who cooks the meals), “Passenger in 24B would like this, this, this, this and this. Apparently, she hasn’t eaten for 3 days.”

Oh. My. God.

I could not believe she stood their in the aisle and said this in front of all the other passengers. The least she could have done was gone to the galley and talk about the passenger behind her back. Just kidding!

I turned to the man sitting next to me and we just stared at each other in shock. I then said out loud, “What is the big deal? If she’s paying for the food, she can order whatever she wants.” I don’t think the flight attendant appreciated that very much.

Anyway, I’ll be over to check in with all of you as soon as I spend some quality time with the family. I haven’t blogged much since I’ve been gone and I have to say, it was such a nice break. However, I did miss all of you and your crazy lives. ;-) It may be a while before I get to you since there are almost 500 unread posts in my Bloglines! You guys sure have been busy while I was away!

I haven’t had the pleasure of flying your airline (don’t even know which one it is!) but since I haven’t seen you, I know I haven’t flown it. We don’t really fly a whole lot.

but I’ve seen some doozie flight attendants…and passengers too.

I prefer the funny ones though. Like the guy who said “in case of a water landing… we are severly off course!…” that was a flight from Denver to Cheyenne…and yeah, there’s no water. ;)

It’s unfortunate when people are so rude. Maybe her boss needs to remind her that customer service is an attitude and hers needs some adjusting.

Out of curiousity (for those of us average passengers), who would one (effectively) complain to when something like that happens?

Good for you for saying something! I assume the flight attendant had no response, either. But for the price you pay for the snack cart items, if someone wants five of them, you’d think the flight attendant would be happy to get that big of a sale!

My father flew awhile back and one checked bag was over weight by a couple pounds. He pulled some items out and placed them in a carry on. The checked bag was re-weighed and it weighed more! Obviously the scale was inaccurate but the company representative would not budge until it showed the correct amount. Pretty stressful stuff when you still need to go through a long security line and there are anxious people behind you.

He won’t fly that airline again because of that one incident.
