Never A Dull Moment

June 24, 2007

Thank you for your concern. I’m finally home safe and sound.

You would think the paint fumes and freezing temperatures would have been the worst of my worries. You’d be wrong.

How about having an anxiety attack during boarding, almost passing out, and needing to have oxygen administered to you? Yup, it happened to me.

I’m still not sure what happened. One moment I was at the boarding door, welcoming the passengers on board. The next my vision started to blur and my hearing got fuzzy. I started breaking out in a cold sweat and feeling nauseated. The only thing I wanted to do was sit down.

What I ended up having to do was lay down in the last row of seats and rest until after the first beverage service. After that I felt so much better. Thank goodness I had the coolest crew. They really took great care of me!

Of course, I can just hear the rumors that will inevitably spread throughout the company, either I’m pregnant or anorexic. Just in case you’re wondering, I’m neither. I promise!

I’m sure it was from the paint fumes. When you paint you are supposed to keep the area ventilated and not breathe it because in some people, it can attack their nervous system. That doesn’t sound quite right but when my parents were repainting their home-my mom had an allergic reaction to one of the paints like that. She felt light headed, nauseous (sp?), and her eyes and hands even swelled up.

Glad you are ok. Next time-switch rooms.

Glad you’re feeling better. I just did the “stumble” thing….tried to add you as a friend, but they couldn’t find you (probably me having a blonde moment!)

Are you SURE you aren’t pregnant??? It would be fun… lol… for me, anyway!

I’m glad you’re feeling better! Paint fumes have the same effect on me. I went away for 3 days when they painted the inside of our house. Maybe just another excuse for a mini vacation ;)

I think it was either the paint fumes or the cold air from trying to not breathe them (lack of oxygen & such). Glad that you’re better now.
I would start telling folks…especially management that it was the paint fumes so that for your next layover you get a room with no paint! If you have good insurance a check with your doctor wouldn’t hurt.

Glad you work with good folks who knew how to take care of you. I know that BIL is always thankful when he works with his one coworker who used to be a nurse (not sure why he switched to flight attendant) ‘cuz it seems they always have one kind of medical thing or another pop up on their flights. I think that one of these days that BIL will be just as skilled in the medical field as SIL who is an ER nurse. LOL!

Glad you are feeling better! I’m so amazed by you guys who “Fly” for a living. My two flights a year really get me worked up and I don’t think I could do it on a regular basis. (I know that’s strange for a pilot’s wife, but it’s true!)

Oh my! I’m glad you’re ok. I wish you’d been our flight attendant this weekend. We had Mr. Meanie Mean uppity man. But the woman was nice and made sure to smile at us!

Oh, and the woman with the kid and the dvd thing? Crazy.

Yikes! I’m glad you’re feeling better. But you know, after that incident with those rude parents who wanted a movie player for their kid, I’d probably have an anxiety attack seeing more passengers boarding the plane, too. ;)

Take it easy!

You are the second blog I’ve come across today that has made the announcement of “no pregnancy!” I think it’s kinda funny that that’s the first thing people think when a woman feels ill.

I’m with Southern Girl - maybe the anxiety was leftover from the previous flight and those passengers. Ugh.

Take care of yourself!!

That was my first thought, that you were pregnant. Paint and laquer fumes might have caused your light headedness. Glad you made it home safe. Sounds like you need a vacation from this trip.

I can’t help but thinkof the paint fumes you were breathing in just a post ago . . .

But glad your OK.

And BOY did I get a kick from that “pissed” post you had AND the comments!

Woo Hoo!

I am so jealous. (This is because I am weird - in case you hadn’t noticed!)

I have ALWAYS wanted to faint, but I’m 43 and I’ve only even been close once, after giving birth to baby #3.

I HATE paint fumes and chemical smells, though. If I have to sniff those to go down, then I guess I’ll just have to stay boringly upright!

I’m glad you are okay! Anxiety attacks are terrible, I know, I have them a lot.

Well, I’m glad you’re okay and your crew took great care of you! I hate stuff like that!

Hugs,
Holly

Glad you had such a supportive crew and that you’re feeling better.

well, you could have been affected by the paint fumes and lack of sleep, and then worked yourself up into a panic attack. I do that everytime I throw up.

What?! You’re not pregnant? Just kidding, it must have been the pain fume. Glad you’re ok though.
