And Now . . . Back to My Story

Crisis averted.

This week’s host of the Carnival of Family Life has gotten her server issues all sorted out. Yay!

Now, where was I? Oh yeah . . .

As I frantically scanned the crowd of passengers, I knew my chances of finding the passenger was slim. There are many ways to get to baggage claim and they could have gone in any direction. A fellow crew member came with me to help in my search. As I was describing my baggage tags to her, she pointed over to a male and said, “Is that it?” I turned to see an older man just strolling along doing a little window shopping at the News Stand.

I ran over to him, yelling to get his attention. I think everyone in the vicinity heard me . . . except him. He just kept walking. I finally caught up and touched his arm. Needless to say, he was shocked when I told him what happened. The strange thing is that he didn’t leave a bag on the plane so why did he think he had one to begin with? And you know what the funny thing is? I remember saying “Goodbye” to him as he was walking off the plane!

I still can’t believe how lucky I was. There are many ways to get to baggage claim and he could have gone in any direction. What are the chances of me actually crossing his path? My guardian angel was definitely looking out for me that day.

  2. glad you were able to retrieve your bag!
(now why indeed did he pick up a bag if he did not take on on board???)

but indeed your GA was watching out for you.
I am off to your baby store because I have a gift to purchase for my friend that just gave birth.

I’m so glad you found it. That is so weird that he would take a carry on off when he didn’t bring one.

being the sceptic that I am, I tend to believe that he did hear you and that he took the bag on purpose.

I’m so glad you got it back!

re: mom. Yeah, I hope it’s not as bad as I’m expecting too…although she’s already (over the phone) told me how I should be doing my laundry…AGAIN!

  7. Melissa says:

Yeah… um… sounds to me like it wasn’t a “mistake”. Call me a pessimist, but his story sounds off… glad you got it back!!

  8. Jennifer says:

  9. Congrats on the lucky catch with the bag, and the fab award!

  11. Mary says:

Wow, that is lucky that you found that man. Did he give a reason for having taken your rollerboard? tha’s just weird.

  12. MARILEE says:

I wonder if this guy does this alot and this is how he gets his kicks. Weird! Glad you got it back!

  13. Dana says:

An award!!! You are too kind Kailani!!! seriously. You made my evening :)

I am so glad you got your bag..I was wondering how that was going to turn out. Yep, God was watching out for you that is for sure! Do you think the old man had a touch of Alzheimers? I mean, come on – you didn’t bring a bag on, yet you take one off? Or maybe he was trying to steal it and figured nobody would suspect an elderly person?

Well, I’m just glad you got it back! And thanks again for the award.

  14. Vader's Mom says:

I’m so glad that you found it!! We’ve been lucky with Jeff’s luggage so far. It hasn’t been lost, but he’s broken more then his share of it!!

  15. Wow. Just wow. You are one lucky gal. I’m SO GLAD you retrieved your bag!

  16. JessicaK says:

Yeah, I’m going to have to go with popular opinion on this one and say he took the bag on purpose. Why on earth else would he walk off with a bag with a pink tag and white numbers? And I’m usually an optimist! Anyway, I’m so glad you got it back!

  17. Pamela says:

He must have been mad (as in crazy)

  18. Renee says:

the drawing isn’t to scale and it’s from memory. The closet is weird shaped and it’s big enough to be a laundry room (that’s what it was intended for but the first owner who built the house had the laundry installed on the main floor…that drawing to follow when I get some of that done.)
When I first saw the room I was going to make it my sewing room…it’s got a light and an airvent. but after hauling clothes up and down the stairs…I wanna turn it into a laundry room.

  19. donetta says:

Oh how wonderful you got your property back!
Congratulations on the award. You are pretty fabulous. So is Christine. I love your choices for passing it on too.
How strange he just walked off with it.

  20. Girlfriend, you were soooooo lucky you got your rollerboard back! I can’t believe that guy. What was he thinking?
