IU2U.org is a site dedicated to fighting childhood obesity by helping families keep fit, stay active and have FUN achieving healthier goals together. Their goal is to get the word out on the Fit Kids Act to get healthier food options in schools nationwide and just give families another option for collecting healthy lifestyle tips.

I found it absolutely shocking that the average teenager eats over 90 pounds of sugar every year!
I learned that every year teenagers eat an average of 93 pounds of added refined sugar. Wow!
Children are less physically active than ever before.
While they should be getting an hour of moderate
to vigorous exercise most days of the week, kids
are now spending this time (and more!) on
sedentary activities.
In 2007, only 4% of the U.S. states required that fruits & vegetables be sold in schools wherever food is available for purchase.

It’s scary that such a large percentage of food targeted at children is so high in sugar.

I was shocked to read that over a fifth of our nation’s schools don’t require their students to take physical education. When I went to school (even through college) you could not pass to the next grade or graduate unless you had the credits for physical education!
“12,500,000 American children are overweight.
In the last 30 years this number has tripled. â€
I have been obese since a child so I agree its time we as parents need to take a stand against obesity. I love the get fit together part and how you can print out a activity sheet those will come in handy for me

The site says that about 20 per cent of our children in the US will be obese by 2010. It’s sad, because certainly they must be learning some of this from those around them (not having the stresses that make adults eat!).
It’s there on the front page: By 2010, an estimated 20% of our country’s children will be obese. Wow.

70% of children have higher than recommended sugar levels!
the amount of obese children has tripled over the years. Very sad that we can not keep our children healthy!
I’m pretty amazed that Denver schools made such a commitment to the well being of their kids. An hour is a lot of time and switching from flour to whole wheat is great!

THE $100 WOULD BE NICE, BUT, I’LL BE HAPPY WITH THE FRUITS N VEGGIES

I was wondering about PE in school, seems to all but vanish
Children eat amost 100 lb of sugar a year!! I work at a school and teach special needs students. I incorporated a daily walking program into our day. It not only helps with ALL of our weight problems but increases attention span when we’re done.
That kids watch more than 200 minutes of tv PER DAY!! That’s crazy!
Childhood obesity and diabetes are on the rise.
