Crayola Creativitycast Giveaway – Week 1

The first edition of the Crayola Creativitycast Twitter Party sponsored by Crayola & MomItForward.com just wrapped up and what a fun evening it was! The topic was “Affordable Fun 101″ and participants shared their ideas about how to engage their children in artistic expressions without spending a lot of money. But most of all, it was a great way to make new friends and just spend the evening chatting away on a common topic.
I have to admit that this was my very first “Girls Night Out” twitter event and I was a little overwhelmed at how fast the conversation goes. But I think with a little pratice using hashtags & TwitterGrid, I’ll be an expert in no time.
Next week’s theme is “Back-to-school Basics…tips to get kids ready, yourself ready, classroom ready!”
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Every Sunday through Tuesday, you can RSVP for the party by clicking on the RSVP post on MomItForward.com
- There, you can include your Twitter URL in the link list and see the list of other GNO gals
- Visit http://momitforward.com/gno each Monday for more information and a custom Tweet Grid for that week´s event
- On Tuesday nights, tweet using the hashtag #gno #crayola and chat away
- In the event that Mr. Linky is not showing up in the RSVP post on http://momitforward.com/category/gno, please leave your Twitter URLs in the comments, which offers #GNO gals the opportunity to follow and be followed all in one place
- GNO participants will also have the chance to win great prizes

Oh… we take out the kiddie pool, fill it with water, then the toddlers and I make designs on the ground with our wet feet.

We like to play in our backyard together. Whether it’s playing on the playset, in the water, or gardening, we do it as a family and it doesn’t cost much (i.e. cost of water pretty much). And to include crayola, we color with crayons on printer paper that was printed on and not used or printer jobs that were messed up

We wrestle on the floor or go to the local park for a walk and playground fun.
This is a great prize!
I am now following you on Twitter and I think this is an awesome contest that you are running. My kids and I love crayola. I am always trying to find fun, affordable, and free things to keep my kids busy during the year especially the summer. Some free/affordable things we like to do as a family: make and then play with homemade play dough, print out and color free coloring sheets, have our lunch in the park, use a cookbook to make a meal as a family, check out movies from the library for a family movie night, play board games or do jigsaw puzzles, go to free shows and story times at the library, go to free concerts at the park, visit museums on “free day”, visit our state park to picnic and swim in the lake, go out to dinner on “kids eat free” nights. These are just a few of the things we like to do and we spend little to no money doing them. There is something that a family can do everyday without spending much if any money and all you have to do is look around to find the events or get creative.

We build sandcastles and villages in the sandbox.
my kids and I like to decorate the sidewalks with chalk for fun,its free and lots of fun to see how they express themselves with art
We don’t need much to have fun – we play with water, try to use paper multiple times – first for painting, then for cutting/pasting, etc. We love art projects and books-books-books.
We use sidewalk chalk. We use recipes for home-made play dough, bubbles, and paper mache.
we do crafts and finger paint and read together
We recycle items and use them for arts and crafts. We’ve used single serve water bottles and made them into snowmen and turkeys. We’ve used paper towel rolls for a number of projects like angels and butterflies. With egg cartons,we’ve made caterpillars. We try to think how we can reuse items that we’d otherwise be throwing out.

for creative inexpensive fun I let me boys go to town on the cement patio in our backyard with colored chalk. They can create till their hearts content and get a clean slate after each rain storm (or hose it off if there is a draught). They love to paint and color as well but paper adds up, but chalk is cheap and easy for creating all the time
Playing store was always fun! You can save empty cereal boxes and other food containers to set up a little “store” in your house. These are all items you’d probably throw away anyway. Add some play money and you have all sorts of things to talk about – nutrition, money, math, food groups, etc.!

When my grandkids come to visit we do simple but fun things with them. They love to play games…my husband and I go to garage sales in the spring and fall and I get games really cheap. So I keep a supply of games on hand and recycle (give to Goodwill) any that didn’t go over with them and add new ones to the “tried and true” ones. The games are mostly 25 cents to a dollar in our area. We also do things like walk around our neighborhood…the little boys usually find a “rock” or interesting stick to bring back home. The younger ones love to make pictures..dot paint, drawing with markers, etc., also.

We do a lot of paper art. We make toilet paper roll puppets, pictures, and cut photos out of magazines to paste on those cardboard inserts inside new shirts.
The kids love sand art and love drawing on the sidewalk and driveway with chalk. We do small crafts and decorate baked goods for the holidays.

We have very small children, almost 6 month twins, and they are starting to be aware of each other. So my husband and I stage mock sumo wrestling matches with the boys. It is so funny to watch.

I had a Birthday party for my daughter and the theme was a Queen and her court of princesses. The activities were for everyone to make their crown and jewelery. So with scissors, construction paper , crayons, markers, buttons, and glue, they were occupied and then pictures were taken of the Queen and her court.
