There’s no place like home.

It’s so nice to have the Carnival of Family Life back in the islands. We’ve got a lot of great posts from past as well as new contributors! Yeah! So grab yourself a cup of coffee and settle in for some great reading. The Carnival is back in town!

Family Stories

Tonya of There is a Season had an interesting conversation with her 8 year old daughter. Read about it in Conversations with Libby. Now that’s my kind of girl!

Poor Tricia . . . or should I say, poor Tricia’s laptop. Read her funny story in Worried Momma Vs. Laptop Adapter Plug at Blogging Away Debt. I think most of us know that feeling.

Do you know what you kids really think about your appearance? Well, Mary of Almost Somewhat Positive never has to worry about that. Although, I think I’d rather be kept in the dark! Read her hilarious post in What do you get for the girl who has almost anything . . .

What would you do if you spent good money to see a movie only to have the child behind you constantly talk and kick your chair? DigitalRich had that very thing happen to him. See how he handled the situation in Showdown at the Carmike Cinema Corral.

How do you get your child to sleep alone in his/her own bedroom? Christine of Are We There Yet? is asking the same question. Read about her situation in When Your Child is Afriad to Sleep Alone. BTW, love the new site!

Rory from hamelife shares this wonderful family tale about Grandad’s retirement party. It may have been his party but it turned out to be Ankoo Robbit’s day instead. Read about it in Grandad’s Retirement Party – Yeah Right!

Miscellaneous Mum
of Miscellaneous Adventures of an Aussie Mum is having some issues with her paper boy/girl. Read about in A New Dimension in Domestic Happiness.

Do you know what comesom means? If so, please stop by Adventures in the 100 Acre Woods and let Stephanie know. She’s having a hard time understanding her son in Translation Please!

Desert Songbird of The Ice Box is a lucky woman. She has the most wonderful in-laws! Read about them in Reflecting on the Value of Family.

Mommy the Maid had a very rough transition into the new year. Read about it in Goodbye 2006, Welcome 2007.

Mike from Be a Good Dad has a future songwriter in the family. Check out his daughter’s talent in Geetle’s First Song Lyrics.

Ammy of Tiggerprr’s Scratching Post is going through a bittersweet moment. Her uncle recently passed away but he left behind a treasure of wisdom planted in his family. Read about it in The Principles of the Butterbean.

Do you have a daughter who’s wants to grow up too fast? Liza of Liza’s Eyeview is going through that same situation. Read about it in Raising My Daughter in This (?) World.

As for An Island Life, you can read about a Japanese family tradition in Ringing in the New Year.

Announcments

Congratulations to Dana of Principled Discovery! She’s expecting her 4th child. Check out the beautiful ultrasound pictures and help her decided the perfect name for her perfect baby in It’s A Girl!

Kate from Babylune has some very nice wishes to send out. You can find them in New Year Wishes for New Moms. The Anne Geddes photo is reason enough to stop by! Adorable!

Can you imagine giving birth to an 11 pound baby? Well, Kelly from Pass The Torch must be SuperMom to have gone through a delivery like that! You have to check out the adorable photo of “C” when he was first born in Happy Birthday – Dock Jumper. He’s now celebrating his 8th Birthday!

Tips & Advice

How many times have your kids said, “I’m bored!”? Well, Kevin of More4Kids has the perfect solution. Read about it in Battling Boredom. Works for me!

Lena of Cheeky Lotus is going through what a lot of SAHMs experience. Read her funny and thoughtful post entitled Manic Momday.

Our Furry Friends

Check out Chrisdolley’s cute photos in Festive Overindulgence: A Kitten’s Guide to Weight Watching over the Holiday Period. Looks like his little felines may have enjoyed the holidays a little too much!

In order to try and increase member participation through leaving comments, I’ll be giving away either a box of chocolate covered macadamia nut candy or a bag of Kona coffee to the person who visits (and comments on) the most submissions. You have all this week to make your rounds and the winner will be announced at the next carnival edition. Please include that you’re visiting through the Carnival of Family Life to help me keep count. I’ll try it for this week and see how it goes.

And speaking of the next edition, next week we’ll be having a brand new host . . . Kevin from More4Kids!
