2012 Valentine’s Day Goody Swap

I love Valentine’s Day. Everything is so pink and red and flowery. I love candy and roses and romantic songs.
However, ever since having kids, hubby and my views of this love day has changed. Candlelight dinners are replaced by kid-friendly restaurants with paper napkins and crayons. Expensive gifts have stepped aside for homemade cards and pictures. And even though I miss the formal celebrations, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
However, that doesn’t mean I’m ready to give up the sweet treats that line the store shelves. And since I feel a little silly buying them for myself, I thought I’d organize another Valentine’s Day Goody Swap. It’s been 3 years since the last one I organized so I thought I was about due.
Here’s how it works:
- If you’d like to participate, just fill-out one of these surveys depending on your partner preference – US only or US/International.
- If you do sign-up, please make sure that you’re able to commit to participating. It’s kind of a bummer to send out a package and not receive one in return.
- You have until January 28th to sign-up. Partners will be announced on Jan 29th.
- In order to try and get to know each other better, I have posted a questionnaire in hopes that we can learn a little more about you. You can post your answers on your blog or in comments.
- You can start to send out your packages as soon as you get your partner’s info. Please ensure that your partner receives their goodies on/before Valentines Day.
- You should try to spend somewhere between $8 – $10, not including shipping charges.
- Once you’ve received your goodies, don’t forget to post pictures so we can all see what you got!
- Have Fun!
Questionnaire:
- What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day? A nice quiet dinner at any restaurant that doesn’t have a keiki (child) menu.
- In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like? Usually it’s take-out from Big City Diner. They have the best Guava Baby Back Ribs!
- If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be? Definitely Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Those mini ones are dangerous because it’s so easy to just pop them in your mouth. I think I once ate half a bag in one sitting!
- Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like? Black liquorice, Red Hots, Conversation Hearts
- If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out? Well, since I can’t swim I would probably be in danger. But it’s a great way to go!
Any questions? Please feel free to contact me.
In addition, one lucky participant will be randomly selected to receive a surprise Hawaiian Gift Pack from me!

My idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day is to go out to dinner with my husband. We like to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant.
As for candy, I like peanut butter cups and Nestle Crunch. My husband likes any kind with chocolate.
I don’t like licorice and hard candy.
My kind of Valentine’s day is dinner at The Olive Garden. My favorite candy is Dove chocolate. I love to decorate for Valentine’s day, so any decorative items would be appreciated.
My idea of a romantic Valentines day is to get a rose, chocolates, a book, a card, and a stuffed animal. I love to spend time with my fiance- we usually go to a movie (romantic, this year I want to see the Vow) and dinner (this year will either be moo moos or a sushi place called musakis or something like that).
In reality my Valentines day is always wonderful. My fiance makes it so nice. He does what he can.
My favorite all time candy would be, well I have two ONE chocolate and ONE fruity. My favorite chocolate is all lindor truffles besides the dark chocolate, My two favorite that they have are the white chocolate and the Stracciatella Chocolate (this one is my all time favorite.) My favorite fruity candies are now-n-laters and taffy (salt water is the best.)
I do not like black liquorice, dark chocolate, grape flavored things (except now n laters) and I do not like orange flavored candy. I really do not like to eat apple flavored things either.
I love to read so books would be loved. I love to watch dvds and I also love to play games on my ds.
If you have any questions please contact me. Whoever I end up getting I will do the same.
I also love love love nail polish
A few things I have been wanting really bad. Gel pens- all colors. I terribly want a pen that writes in a bright orange preferably not a fine point and one that writes in green but not a light green- one that stands out.
I also have been wanting a big purse (big enough to fit a binder)
I am a college student, un-employeed.
I do not care if purses or books are used (hand me downs are nice). One thing I would love to do is to email the person i get a few times so we can hopefully become friends.
What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day?
We love to get a heart shaped pizza and have a movie in. Nothing quiet as nice as relaxing at home.
In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like? It’s always just what I described above!
If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be?
I really love a good cupcake or cookie, so I would pick those. As for candy I like Dove milk chocolate, PB cups, and plain M&Ms.
Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like?
I don’t like licorice or hard candy.
If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out?
Why would I want to get out?
