Would You Want To Know?

I recently found out that a co-worker’s picture was entered into a photo contest where the winner could win $500. So what’s wrong with this? It’s an x-rated photo.
I was hanging out with a friend of mine in the airport terminal when he asked if I had my laptop with me. Well, of course I did so he asked if he could use it. If I had known what I was about to see, I would have said no. However, he pulled up the site and there she was in all her glory.
The problem is that I really don’t think she entered the photo herself because it looked like she was posing for her boyfriend (which I think is crazy in itself since you just never know where those pictures will end up). And since she’s probably not the one who entered them, she wouldn’t be able to take them down unless she can figure out who put them there in the first place.
So, if these photos were of you and you couldn’t do anything about it, would you want to know?

Excuse my language Kailani, but F**k yes!!!!!!
You must tell her. How humiliating if she finds out from someone else at some point in the future and then has to face the horrible knowledge that her co-workers have known about it for ages.
Not a fun job to impart news like this, that is for sure. but really you have to make sure she finds out. Who knows – maybe she did submit it and if she’s then embarrassed you know maybe she won’t do something so foolish in the future
On a side note, why do people do things like this? I have never understood it. Relationships end, even marriages. Why give someone else that much ammunition against you?
And hi again. I’m back!

Think I’d want to know . . . then again, maybe not. Now, that wasn’t helpful at all, was it?

i would want to know, if only to destroy the jerk who put the pic there.
but then again, sometimes ignorance is bliss…..
While I’m not as enthusiastic as Kelly…
yes, I would want to know because I would get it removed somehow.

I would want to know also. And yes there is something she can do about it. She knows who has the picture and how it got up there is pretty easy to figure out.
What I want to know is why “friend” hasn’t told her.
Renee’s last blog post..All of that for nothing???
I would definitely want to know! But…yes there is always a but, are you sure she didn’t do it gerself? What goes on in people’s private lives is sometimes not at all the person you know and work with. But regardless, she needs to be told.

oh and that movie was being shown in a parking lot…so if the show had gone on we would have been high and dry.

I think I would want to know. But if they are a couple and she is willing to pose for those photos, she may not have a problem with it.
What I want to know is did you punch the guys lights out for showing you porn? I’d freak out! Um, hello! Why would you think I want to sit and look at porn with you!!??!!
Qtpies7′s last blog post..Does this make sense to you?
I would want to know and I think you should tell her. She can contact the website and if that picture was put up without her permission they have to take it down (I’m pretty sure). She would probably have to prove it’s her, but I’ve heard of that kind of stuff happening before.

wow, that’s a tough one. i’m with you, i’d never do such poses in the first place. but if i had, would i want to know that they’re posted somewhere? probably not. less stress that way.

This is a tough question. Although it would be awful news, I guess it’s in her best interest to know about it so she can make some necessary action.

Yipes. Well I think the biggest part is what you touched on that if you’re going to do it for any reason you’ve got to be prepared for the aftermath that you can’t control it. It’s still sad though!

Thats terrible. Have you thought about telling this woman?

Yes! I would want to know. She must know who had those photos of her to begin with, so she could go to them as well as the website and have them removed.

I think I would want to know too…. now matter how much it sucked…at least I could have an action plan or some witty comeback prepared. Nothing worse than thinking of the perfect ‘comeback’ hours after the encounter.
At least if someone mentioned it, she could be prepared. I would want to be prepared.
But it just brings me around to WTF? What are ‘you people’ doing taking naked photos in the first place?

That’s just sick. I would definitely want to know – but I would say she probably has a good idea if she’s posing for anyone, including her boyfriend. Just my thoughts.

I would ABSOLUTELY want to know, irregardless of whether I could do anything about having it removed from the site or not.

I’m with Alexia. If she didn’t do it and doesn’t know about it and wants them removed then the site has the responsibility to have them removed. Only problem is that if it’s a site like this… good luck having them care that someone’s offended!
And yes, I’d want to know so that even if I did put them up myself I’d know that “hello, my coworkers found them!” (not that I ever would) but she should know they’re not private.

Yes, I’d want to know, because I would remember who took those photos, and I’d have him hunted down and shot.

I’d want to know, but that would be pretty embarassing if it wasn’t done with my consent.
Elizabeth’s last blog post..It all happened so fast!
yep, I’d definitely want to know. I don’t really understand why people would pose nude anyway….for a picture for ANYONE!!! Anyway, tell her. She certainly shouldn’t shoot the messenger.
Dana’s last blog post..Just a couple of shots
One thing to consider is that you are assuming she didn’t submit the photo. What if she did and you mention it to her, she may be very upset and embarrassed. She may have done it on a lark, may have really needed the 500.00 and figured, no one I know will ever see it…
As to your friend who showed you the photo… what is he spending his time looking at…
She may very well have entered them, but either way you should definitely tell her, as awkward as it may be. I agree that nudity and cameras don’t mix unless you are an exhibitionist, because it’s all but guaranteed that at least one person you don’t want to see the pictures will see them. It’s just one of nature’s laws!

I think it depends: if I look hideous, please don’t tell me. I’m just kidding!!
I’d want to know, so I could figure out who did it and pay them back er I mean ask them to take the photo down. Immediately.
Whether she did it or not, she may be embarrassed, so it’s a delicate situation to handle, but in the long run, I think she’d want to know. And if she knows already, at least she knows you looked out for her.
Audra Marie’s last blog post..Sassitude Announcement
I agree with the people who say she could’ve submitted it herself.
I suppose the approach I would take would be “you may already know about this but in case you didn’t, I wanted to tell you about this picture of you on the internet and if I was able to have it shown to me, it wouldn’t be hard for our boss or other co-workers to find it either.”
So you’re making her aware of it regardless and if she DID post it, you’ve brought up the point of how it could impact her career without being preachy. Just my opinion. Please update us on how you handled it regardless! Good luck!

well.. maybe ignorance is bliss.
However, whoever showed you the pictures is aware that you know about them.
So you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
