It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas

Today I was walking down the street in Seattle where it was 42 degrees! Brrrrr! I had my ipod on and was listening to Winter Wonderland from Al Jarreau’s new Christmas CD. All along cars were busily rushing to the shopping centers in hopes of finding that perfect gift.

It was such a nice feeling to know that I had no where in particular to go and nothing in particular to do. I was just moseying along and checking out the Christmas lights in the store display windows.

Then it hit me . . . the Christmas spirit. All of a sudden a feeling of excitement and anticipation filled within me. It didn’t matter that I was freezing my butt off. Or the thought of my flight the next day being oversold. Or all the honking cars around me.

For me, Christmas was in the air and life was good.

What puts you into the Christmas spirit?

The occassional snow flurry, the music and the lights…

    Happy flight…

I wish that I could say that I am in the Christmas spirit but I’m not. I’m trying though by doing a couple of “angels” (foster children), secret santa, decorating, reading the story of Christ’s birth in the bible, listening to music… the list goes on. Maybe I’m trying too hard?

Our temperatures here finally, FINALLY! dropped down low enough to make it feel like Christmas time. Also, we finally got around to decorating the house and tree.

I just love Christmas decorations! It’s just fun to look at all the lights and red and green everywhere! Oooh and Christmas movies too! It doesn’t take too much to get me feeling all Christmasy! :-)

I got in the mood over the weekend watching the kids decorate both of their grandparents’ trees. They were both so excited. Plus, the baby now says “Ho, ho, ho” and if that won’t get me in the mood for Christmas, nothing will.

I love downtown Seattle at Christmastime! Did you see the nutcrackers and the gingerbread houses?

First and foremost the music but the cold weather too! Hope you have a safe trip back home!

i avoid Seattle if I can, I’m right across sounds tho, so wave to me if you have a minute. :)

You know what puts me in the Christmas Spirit? Grateful children. When I told my kids this year they were just getting a couple of things, they didn’t bat an eye or make a face. Granted they are older, but Noah is only 8 and he didn’t give it a second thought.
Hope you get a flight home!

I love that it only takes 42 degrees to freeze your butt off. Not that you have much of which to freeze. ha ha ha

22 years ago Christmas Eve, I was given the all clear from my bout with Cancer. This time of year is very special to me because I was given the greatest gift of all.

    My life.

Seeing all of the holiday decorations everywhere puts me in the Christmas mood, for sure!

While it’s been snowing here for 6 weeks, the Christmas spirit is truly I try hard to carry year round. I find it makes dealing with life a little easier. That being said I still get excited when Thanksgiving is over and we can put up the tree and lights and start baking and writing Christmas cards…

Funny how it can just hit like that isn’t it?

We stopped buying gifts for everyone and starting just GIVING for the Lord’s sake to those who NEED it. I’ve never enjoyed the holiday more!

Having all my presents made and bought, and finally being able to relax. That and a Rum and Eggnog!

Decorating the tree (a live one, though buying it never puts me in good spirits). Growing up, we always listened to christmas music while decorating the tree, and now that I have my own home, the tradition continues.

The Christmas lights get me everytime. I love to turn out all the lights and just lay on the couch and stare at the tree.

Just what you said. The “Spirit” of Christmas is what puts it into perspective for me.

Nothing, yet. :( I may just pop in some holiday music today to help get me going.
