It’s Going to be a Great Day

Ever wake up in the morning and just know it’s going to be a great day?

Well, that’s what happened to me. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it’s a wonderful feeling.

It was a beautiful sunny morning. I arose feeling well rested and full of energy. I then gave the girls a choice of a more decent breakfast – not the pop tart, instant oatmeal, or cold cereal they usually get. I even did the breakfast dishes immediately and not 5 hours later.

I spent some quality time with Girlie Girl playing with her Easy Bake Oven. It’s amazing how good a cake that has been cooked by a light bulb can taste. And even though it can be devoured within 2 bites, it’s the actual preparation that’s the most fun.

Lunchtime was spent at a nearby park. I let Girlie Girl make our sandwiches while I packed the rest of our picnic. We took the kite and some bubbles, loaded up the wagon, and headed out. Baby Bug had a great time running around and buring off all that excess energy.

Back home, everyone took a nap together- including me.

Yes, it was a great reminder that even though life’s responsibilites don’t always allow for rest and relaxation on a daily basis, we should still try to make the most of the the opportunities that we do get.

When was the last time you spent some real quality time with your family? What did you do?

That does indeed sound like a great day! And a nap, even — wow!

I totally agree those days filled with the little things are awesome. My son and I love to take a walk around our local park and then go for snowcones in the heat of the summer (in the evening when it gets a little cooler). That is a little thing we like to share.

I am FINALLY back from MY trip – got back late last night and I feel jet lagged and still not quite up to par. It was great, but I need some time now to relax and get stuff back in order. I am glad you had a good time on your trip. I’ll post more pics of mine later. I took like 500 photos!

BTW, thanks so much for the Amazon certificate. I was so excited to win that. You are too sweet. Thanks for hosting the contest.

I think that they are fury good furends! Rose does seem to appreciate our visits. She comes running to the door when we go in and hugs us while purring madly.

Last night as we started going from the door to the living room she ran full steam to beat us there…purring the whole time.

She still keeps looking toward the door for when her Mom & Sister will be home, but she plays with DD and me and allows lots of snuggles. We’ve been trying our best to make sure she gets lots of exercise so she’ll stay out of trouble while we’re gone. I know that cats require 27 hours of sleep per day ;) so we make the best of when she’s awake.

I tried to comment to this post last night when it showed up on my reader, but it wasn’t on your blog yet. We’re going to the baseball game today.

What a great day for you and the girls! I’m sure they savor these laid back, fun days with you just as much.

BTW–good job recognizing it as a great day, not a “wasted” one like a more selfish mom might have.

Sounds like a perfect day to me, complete with nap too!!

I’ve had fun taking the kids swimming in the pool. Last night Katelyn wanted to eat outside, so I cleaned off the patio. It was fun to dine out in the fresh air.

That does sound like a great day! The nap was the cherry on top!

We had nice family time this morning, going to a Memorial Day parade and ceremony.

Our whole weekend was a family weekend. We spent the whole time at home watching movies, cooking out, and swimming. A nice weekend together before Jayke and I take a trip back to Indiana for 3 weeks.

I know that feeling. There are some days I wake up so refreshed and optimistic. Sometimes, starting your day right seems to be a good way to expect the rest of the day to go well. I wish I can have those kind of days more often.

Last time we had real quality time as a family was when we watched Shrek 3 and spent the rest of the day having fun at the mall. With the summer heat, it’s always nice to spend time at the mall these days.

I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a WONDERFUL camping trip this past weekend. It was so nice. I am also fortunate enough to be able to spend some quality time with my family, VerY regularly.

Sounds like you had a great time. I love days like that. Im trying to make more of those days my goal for this summer. We seem to be so busy during the school year that days like that aren’t here often enough.

Perfect day! It’s so nice to be able to just chill with your little chicks!

I had one like that yesterday – took little G to the park where there’s a pond. She really wanted to feed the geese – I settled on feeding the ducks, only when there were a small number around. The Canada geese are best looked at from afar in my opinion, but they’re so aggressive. We ended up running away from them a fair bit. They have the cutest goslings though.

The sun was shining, there was a nice breeze, we stopped for ice cream and a sandwich, did a bit of baby item and shoe shopping.
Life is great. I love spring … too bad we only get about 3 days of it every year up in her To-rantah!

That’s awesome! We had 2 great days this weekend that we spend all day long with family. Just hanging out and having a fun time.
We went swimming, to the zoo, had a BBQ and played games.
It was really fun and relaxing to be able to just hang with each other.

What an awesome day. This weekend, we spent four days doing NOTHING – it was heaven. The only place we “had” to be was church on Sunday morning; the rest of the weekend, we had no obligations, no plans, no nothing, so we all slept in, hung out in our jammies, read, ate, and watched movies.

    Melissa says:

I love days like that! They seem so few and far between… we are kind of split in our family. Some of us like to go and do and see and play play play! The rest like to sit and relax and just hang out. So, a good day for some of us is not always a good day for everyone :D

  17. 17

Our quality days are usually spent camping. But we also do sudden, impulsive drives to the beach or random runs for ice cream. Sometimes we play board games or cook up something yummy “just because”. The girls are still at an age where they LIKE doing things with us so we’d better enjoy it while we can!

I really need to get back on the ball and get back in the carnival. I get busy and forget so easily.

I tried commenting on your posts, including this one, yesterday but only got an error message so here I am. These are the times that your girls will absolutely remember, even at their age, when they grow older. Not a care in the world and to be with their Mom! The little things in life are so precious, right?!
