I’m Being Stalked By A Roach

It may sound funny but this roach just might put me into early labor.
First of all, let me explain that I am totally terrified of cockaroaches. In fact, last month I saw a roach crawling in the kitchen and I tried to bribe Girlie Girl to kill it. No dice. So I usually just wait until one of the cats finds it and takes care of the problem for me.
However, this particular roach has been stalking me since Monday. The first time I saw it was on the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom. I almost ran out screaming in mid-stream. I went to get the bug spray and watched it for a while hoping it would come down within spray reach. It never did. It stayed there all.day.long. So I closed the bathroom door and peeked in every so often. It never moved.
The next morning it was gone. Hoping it crawled under the fridge to die, I went about my way making breakfast for the girls. Next thing I know it jumps out at me from inside the sink. I threw everything in the air and screamed. By the time I got the spray, it was gone. I kept a careful lookout all day, jumping at anything that moved. But I didn’t see it again.
Then it was time to make dinner. As I was cooking, I saw it run across the stove behind the microwave. Again I screamed and ran for the spray but I was too late. It was gone . . . again.
So now we’re on day 3 and this darn roach is making me so jumpy! I have no idea why. It’s not like it’s going to attack and bite me or anything. DH says I’m being silly because it’s probably more afraid of me than I am of it. I doubt it. In any case, the bug spray is now sitting next to me and I’m carrying it every time I go into the kitchen. It’s me against the roach and I plan to win!

Oh Kailani! I’m laughing so hard, I have tears in my eyes. I’m not laughing AT you, though. If you’ve read this weeks Top Ten Tuesday post, you’ll know why I’m laughing. We are dealing with roaches, as well. Not so much in the last few days, but I battled it out with one last night. I’m not convinced I got it, so I’m constantly on the look out. I, also, care a can of bug spray wherever I go. I have no idea where these stupid things came from! We’ve never seen a roach here & we’ve lived here for 3 1/2 yrs. I hope you get your roach soon!

LOL! Call an exterminator and have the entire house bug bombed! hee hee
Actually there are supposed to be more friendly ways of keeping roaches out of your house that would probably be a better choice.
Hugs! I hope you get rid of this bug soon and that she doesn’t lay eggs. :p

I remember living with flying cockroaches in Florida, also known as “palmetto bugs.” They scared the bejeezus outta me when they came leaping and flying. I don’t blame you for being on edge. Ewwww….

You go girl! I can’t stand roaches. When we lived in military housing in Md, the neighbors had their townhouse sprayed & next thing we knew we had roaches coming out of the walls. I swear they were there one second & then they weren’t. *shudder* That’s one of my biggest peeves of all time. Why did Noah have to include some of these bugs on the ark? Why???

Okay – I’m the same way! I was sitting her on the computer the other night and a roach crawled across the floor. I screamed so much that Hubby thought there was someone in the house attacking me or something. He was not pleased to see that it was “just a bug”. Good luck catching and killing that nasty little critter!

Good Luck on finding and killing that roach! I used to live in NY so yeah…I know all about them =/ Try putting one of those sticky traps on your counter, maybe he’ll commit suicide. haha
Ick! I would be freaking out too!! When my son was a baby, my husband’s grandparents stored a fridge for a relative and ended up with roaches because of it. They were all over! What worked for them was to this: They set out a few dishes of equal parts baking soda and powdered sugar in places the roaches frequented. The roaches can’t resist the sugar, but so they go for it, and the powdered sugar does them in. It worked fantastic for them. They never even had to call an exterminator! I don’t know how it will work on freaky tropical roaches, but it’s worth a try. Make sure you put it where your girls can’t get into it, like under a sink or something. I don’t think baking soda would hurt them too much, but better safe than sorry, right?

I know just how you feel!!! Here in Florida, Desert Songbird is right, the “Palmetto Bugs” – doesn’t that sound so pretty – NO, they are ROACHES, are SO big, and have WINGS. They are so gross and scary!! They give me the creeps, and just reading and thinking of them are making me itch. Now, how am I gonna get to sleep??? EEEEWWWWW!!! Go get it, Kailani!!!

Oh girl I am so there with you! I can’t stand roaches! I hear that boric acid is the ticket if you want to kill them. But I don’t know about having that around with young children.
Girl keep that can close and I’ll be crossing my fingers for ya!
