Feel Good Movies

First of all, thank you for all your well wishes and prayers. My family and I really appreciate all the kind words of support you shared with us. We’re taking it one day at a time and there are more good days than bad ones. That’s how I know that things are going to get better.

The past few days, DH has taken the girls to Maui so I could have some time to myself. What I enjoyed most was having complete control of the television. I was able to watch some great older movies that always make me feel better – Field of Dreams, Remember the Titans, Pretty Woman, Good Will Hunting. I don’t know what it is about these movies but it’s kind of like a good home cooked meal, comforting and satisfying.

What are some of your feel good movies?

    Kailani: I’m so glad to hear that you are getting along ok. I have been thinking about you a lot and sending good vibes your way.

    My favorite “feel good” movies include some of the ones you’ve listed, plus:

    * Heaven Can Wait (the Warren Beatty version)
    * Tootsie
    * Up Close and Personal
    * Funny Girl
    * Funny Lady
    * The Way We Were
    * Reds
    * An Affair to Remember
    * Sleepless in Seattle
    * The Mirror Has Two Faces

    Now I just noticed that some of those movies are kind of sad, but they are sad in a good way. Sometimes a good wallow in a movie romance that doesn’t work out makes for a good time. At least when it involves Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, anyway. :-)

    YOuve got mail
    pretty in pink
    breakfast club
    top gun
    its a wonderful life
    hope floats
    an officer and a gentleman

    I am a 80’s kid and I love those movie’s!

    I am aslo glad that you are feeling better, you needed to take time to reflect and get back to your ole self. Iknow it is hard to do! I have been there

  3. AmyG says:

    I watched Steel Magnolias this past weekend. It’s a sad movie, in parts, but I love it.

    I’m glad you had some time to yourself. Praying the days get better.

  4. Goodbye Girl, Forever Young, Indiana Jones?

    I am glad to hear you are feeling better.

  5. Em Dy says:

    Glad you’re getting better. I suggest you see romantic comedies like Music and Lyrics, Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice.

  6. Kristi says:

    Someone already took one of the ones I was going to say. Mine are Sweet Home Alabama, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and Miracle on 34th Street.

    I’m glad you were able to get some time to yourself and begin to heal.

  7. Sara says:

    Time to yourself AND control of the TV? Wow…you are one lucky girl! I’m glad you and your family are doing better.

    Some of my faves- Grease, Hope Floats, Coyote Ugly, Save the Last Dance, Sweet Home Alabama, A Knights Tale (mmm, Heath Ledger!). Do you see a theme in most of these? GREAT music!!

    On another note- your Field of Dreams…filmed in my state! “Is this Heaven?” “No, it’s IOWA!”

  8. Laura says:

    Glad you are feeling well… I like: Love Actually, 50 First Dates, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, and Sliding Doors

  9. Renee says:

    DD & I just watched Babe yesterday and she actually sat through it all. I don’t think that I’ve quite yet convinced her that its good though. ;)

  10. Elizabeth says:

    My feel good movies are You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, and Love, Actually. I also like to watch “Buffy” episodes when I need comfort TV. Big hugs to you.

  11. Janel says:

    Forrest Gump, Pretty Woman, Grease, Dirty Dancing. I forgot about Sliding Doors until I saw it up there in the comments – great movie.

    I love It’s a Beautiful Life but it’s really emotional.
    Like Water for Chocolate is an oldie but goody foreign film. The Notebook is good, too.

    Prayers and Hugs to you and your family.

  12. Tracey says:

    Nothing can turn my day around like Grease.

    I’ll sing every song, and recite most of the dialogue.

    And to really get me going, I’ll even dance some of the dances (or try to.)

    Glad you got some time alone. Sounds like you spent it wisely!

  13. I agree with everyone else, but thought I would throw out some movies no one ever thinks of…

    Wild Hearts Can’t be Broken
    Dave
    Legally Blonde
