Whew! What a Weekend!

I don’t know if I’m mellowing in my old age but the weekend really wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. Well, it was but it didn’t seem to bother me as much as it did DH. Maybe it’s because I was at work for the most part of it.

Here are the highlights:

  • While I was away, MIL went through my closet and wore my clothes because she didn’t pack enough for herself. When DH asked her about it, she said that Girlie Girl got the clothes for her. Girlie Girl said MIL went in there by herself. When DH confronted MIL, she insinuated that Girlie Girl was lying. OMG! Thank goodness Girlie Girl didn’t hear what was going on.
  • Even though we have a diaper changing area, MIL insisted on changing Baby Bug’s diaper on the couch and got pee all over it.
  • MIL kept commenting on how fat Baby Bug is.
  • SIL & BIL fought the entire time over silly things like why they didn’t pack enough bibs, nap times for the kids, and their kids’ infamous “macaroni & cheese” diet.
  • At the wedding, SIL let her kids make an absolute mess at the table and never even tried to clean it up later. After a while it started to bug me because 1: we were at a formal reception, 2: I had to sit next to it, and 3: I didn’t want people to think it was my kids who made the mess. So I started tiding up. She saw me and never even offered to help.
  • Their kids acted like spoiled brats and totally disrupted the reception. Instead of disciplining them, they made excuses for them. “Oh, they’re just tired.” “You know how exhausting these trips are on them.” “You can’t expect them to behave when it’s past their bedtime.” yada yada yada

On the bright side, compared to them my kids looked like absolute angels! hee hee

I would so be all over MIL insinuating my kid was lying. That is wrong in so many ways.

OMG. That is incredibly rude…..accusing your daughter of lying. And to get into your closet to borrow your clothes without asking YOU. Even IF a child told her it was OK, she is a CHILD and doesn’t have the authority to lend her mother’s clothes out. I bet you are glad they are gone.

You are a saint as far as I’m concerned Kailani!

Wow, wow, just wow. IMHO you shouldn’t let them stay at your house again. If she’s going to stoop to covering her bad behavior by saying your daughter is lying there’s really no telling what she might do and you can’t watch her every second. This is your child’s grandmother? I hope you have some good family friends that live close and can fill in and be “real” grandparents.
Then again, try not to let your girls see how crazy they are if you can help it. I know my mom hid a lot of stuff that went on with her in-laws from me and that helped me not be extra bitter at them. Although they sunk themselves by their treatment of me without me even seeing what they did to my mom.
I’m so sorry you have these crazy people to deal with!

Oh my! I can’t believe she tried to accuse GG of lying! I and just flabergasted! And why on earth was MIL changing BB in the first place if she refused to use the changing area (where all the changing supplies are).

so glad you missed most of it…to bad you had to come back to clean it all up. HUGS

Oh and if the kids are too tired, the reception is past their bed times, etc… then take the kids back to BED! Why should the rest of the party suffer?

  15. Boy, am I glad I don’t have inlaws like you do! Instead, my mil comes over and wants to help do my laundry and clean my house…of course, sometimes I feel a bit miffed, after all, is she saying my house is dirty… And she does call almost daily to chat, but other than that, I’ve got sweet inlaws.

And Baby Bug is so NOT fat!!!! What’s wrong with these crazy people!
