What Happens At Home Doesn’t Always Stay At Home
As most of you know, I caught a cold the day after Halloween. Although I feel better enough to resume my normal lifestyle, I still have a terrible cough caused by congestion. When I’m at home, I sound like I’m coughing up a lung or something.
However, when I’m out I refuse to cough like that. I know I’m strange but it just doesn’t seem lady-like, you know? In fact, yesterday I had a hair appointment that lasted 2 hours. I never coughed once even though I was dying to.
After my hair appointment, I picked up Girlie Girl and we went to the store. While there I ran into a friend of mine from work. She was on the crew that I called in sick for so she asked how I was doing. I told her that I’m feeling much better and should be back to work for my next trip. Of course, Girlie Girl had to put her two cents in. She said, “Mommy is still sick. She coughs like this . . .” which at that point she started imitating the way I cough at home complete with realistic sound effects. My friend couldn’t stop laughing and I wanted to die of embarrassment!
I think I need to talk to her about being discreet! Who knows what else she’s been telling people! *shudder*
FYI: I plan to host a Christmas Ornament Swap towards the end of this month so stay tuned! Or to make it easier, just subscribe to my feed reader in the sidebar!

sorry to hear you are still under the weather….and unfortunately for us, that cough / cold knows no boundaries as we have been afflicted with it here in our great state, in the deep south!
I dealt with it for about four days before calling my OB to beg for something besides Tylenol Sinus. Much to my surprise, they called in something for me. I am some better but still not 100%.
As for our girls and their vocalness, I like to think of mine as my own little spokespersons! LOL!

Oh yeah, I’m always wondering what Count Dooku could be telling his Sunday school teacher about his family! You just never know what they’ll pick up on and emphasize.

Well that proves that kids are just brutally honest….I would have died! I hope you are feeling better! Alex has been fighting a cold too that started the same day as yours
There are no secrets when you have kids at home! It’s a hard lesson to learn, but much better learned early!

I got home from our trip with an awful cough. I”m the type that won’t cough in public either, at least not how I do at home. It’s horrible tryin to hold back though. Feels like my eyes are going to pop out!
My 11yo just told a friend of mine a story out of turn yesterday, and I was thoroughly embarrassed! It doesn’t get better as they get older – it gets worse!

Kailani that’s funny! I’d love to have been there laughing hysterically too…is that wrong? I sure hope you’re better.
The exchange idea is very cool.
Hope you feel better soon! I’ve been struggling with a nagging cold for a while myself. Christmas ornament exchanges are fun, I did one of those a few years back. (At home, not on my blog – I hadn’t even heard of a blog at that time)

I can totally relate! When my daughter was younger especially, I would shudder sometimes when she opened her mouth with words like, “The other day, Mommy said…” HA! Once she told my mom that my husband and I called our bed the “torture chamber”… UGH! I had to explain that it was because our mattress was so hard, sleeping on it was torture!

That is kinda funny about your daughter…I hope you are feeling better soon! I can’t believe you held in a cough for 2 hours!!! You are too ladylike!! I couldn’t do that. I would have had to hack up a lung right there!!!

You probably has the bug that’s been going around, and our kids have it too and it’s called “para-flu”, they have this hacking cough and it feels like they are coughing up a fur ball or something.
Hope you’ll feel better and that’s too cute about GG telling your friend. I have to do the same with my kids by telling them that they don’t need to let everyone knows about “our family business”. Note to self “never say anything bad about anyone in front of the kids.”

Sometimes I’m quite convinced that the Lord gave us kids to help us master humility.
LOL
I’m a lover of inspirational sayings too. It’s just fun to be lifted by such simple things. I didn’t even get a WW up this week but wish I’d been a boat like the one you posted!
Hugs,

Those coughs linger and linger. I try to contain those coughs, too, but it was so bad the last time I had it, I had an awful coughing fit in a restaurant. I couldn’t stop coughing. My eyes were watering, and I couldn’t speak. It was soooo embarassing.
Kids tell the worst things on us!
