Lost: iPhone

I can’t believe I lost my iPhone. The last time I saw it was on Friday when I went to my parent’s house for dinner. When I looked for it in my purse on Saturday, it was gone. I pretty much turned the entire house upside down this weekend looking for it. I even tried calling my number but my battery must be dead because the call went straight to voice mail.
I called AT&T and found out that I didn’t purchase the insurance plan (I must have been sleep deprived at the time) and a new iPhone will cost me between $500 – $600. Are they crazy? What I have never understood is why phone companies give such great deals to just new members. I understand that they want to attract new clients but what about taking care of their current ones? If I were a new member, I would be able to get the iPhone for $50 – $200.
So my plan is to visit AT&T tomorrow and get the cheapest phone I can find. I’m going to use that phone until my contract runs out and then go back to Verizon. The only reason I switched to AT&T in the first place was to get the iPhone which I will probably never have again. So sad. I loved that phone.
And of course all this happens two days before I’m scheduled to attend a 2-day training session to qualify me to go back to work. Two 8-hour days without any access to email or the internet.
Can anyone say “withdrawals”?

Oh so sorry to hear you lost your beloved phone! I hope one of the house elves just got curious and played with it and it turns up soon!

Bumer! I hope it shows itself. I’ve heard of people getting their lost or stolen phones replaced at a more reasonable cost by telling their cell companies that they’re going to do just exactly what you said, buy a cheap one and switch the minute the contract is up. They don’t want to lose you, either, cause they know you’ll never come back. So make sure the salesperson knows. I’ve been able to go into the Verizon store to get a phone for my son and tell thm the price I was offered online and get them to hand it to me over the counter for the same price (they do check). Also, if you don’t have long on the contract if may be cheaper to pay the monthly bill till it runs out and just open a new account to get a new iphone at the newbie price. Good luck!

I can so empathize and sympathize with you!!! Over July 4th weekend this summer, I went to Vegas and when I got to the baggage carousel, my iPhone was gone! I don’t know if it fell from my purse getting off the plane, in between or was picked! I was devastated and lost. i called and stopped my service and went phone-less for the 3 day weekend… I’m now using a Nokia N97, an ok phone, but I still miss my iPhone.
And, yes, I had withdrawal symptoms. I actually had dreams that I was checking my emails, texting and just touching my phone to unlock it! It was scary!! I’ve never been addicted to drugs, but if withdrawal is anything like that of an iPhone, it MUST SUCK!!
Best of luck to you with your new phone. I have an old 8GB 2G model iPhone around the house I’m not using anymore. I often think about switching back, but know that I’d want the newer model! I need to sell this old thing on eBay to get it out of my mind!
If you do go back to Verizon, I can highly recommend the new Droid phone. It’s not sleek and pretty like the iPhone, but its functionality is amazing. It’s the Verizon competitor to the iPhone. Hubby got one the day it came out, and he LOVES it. I’m still using my BlackBerry, but that Droid is really tempting.

Have you looked into how much an early termination of your currently contract would cost you? Just a thought.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t imagine if I couldn’t find mine! Have you thought about getting a used one off eBay or craigslist maybe? Then they could just give you a new sim card.
I hope it magically appears for you today though – sending lots of positive thoughts for you two to find each other again!

Did you wear a sweater or coat to the folks house. Were they layed on the bed or hung in a closet. How many times have you checked the vehicle you were in? Just curious because hubby and me checked our jeep probably five times, and finally found his phone. It had somehow ended up under the drivers seat, standing on it’s side in the seat slide track (that blackish metal track the seat moves forward on). I guess we didn’t see it when we looked because it wasn’t laying flat, but was standing on it’s side in that thing.
I know a friend’s whose phone ended up under the bed at the home of the people she was visiting for a party, because she had it in her coat pocket and all the coats were piled on a bed by the hostess. It must have fallen out and probably knocked under the bed by a foot.
Sorry, you lost it, hope it can still be found.
I hope you find your phone.
My daughter lost her phone today after school. No one has turned it in yet.
Having a giveaway on my blog if your interested…stop by.

If you have a mobile me account you can locate your phone using GPS.
I have 5 phones on my account and we have lost 2 phones so far. You can actually buy at At&t Go Phone and go to an At&t store where they will put in a new sim card for you and you are good to go. I just got a Nokia for $25 and a Ericcson for $50. Sim cards are usually free at corporate stores only.

I seriously don’t understand why cell phone/phone companies don’t take care of the customers they already have! I mean seriously, if they just took time to take care of us, not only would we be repeat customers, but we would also recommend more people to them….
It’s seriously beyond me.
Anyway, I hope that your able to find your phone! If not then I hope everything works out for the better

OMG, you poor thing, I would be so lost without my iPhone! Right now it is the only phone we have, except for the new JitterBug I got The Hubs for Christmas, which he doesn’t have yet.
I agree with Some Lucky Dog, tell AT&T exactly what you plan on doing, and they may work with you, depending on how long you’ve been a customer, anyway.
I know I am reading this late, so I hope you have found it already!!

I didn’t read where you said you went back to your parents house and looked between their couch cushions or under your seats in your car.. I have a friend who terrorized wal-mart looking for her cell and it had fallen inside her moms car between the door and the seat..hope you still can find your phone..
