I think it's because she is a girl, Noah is a independant 8 year old all boy! He doesn't need my hand anymore. Yet he is still affectionate. I still hold hands with my kids. Now the boys don't actually let me hold their hands, they offer me their arm which is quite nice actually - after all, I taught them to offer a lady their arm from the time they were old enough to walk! My girls and I stroll hand in hand or arm in arm - I think it has a lot to do with how open you are with your affection - the more you cuddle and hug and gives kisses when they are little, the more it spills over into their growing years. Now, I'm not saying there were seasons where it was cooler for them to be with their buddies than with mom or dad, but I have always taught my children that friends and lovers will come and go, but family will always be there and nothing can change that! So, take heart, Girlie Girl will always seek out your hand as long as she knows your hand is there.
