Her Last Day of Freedom

Girlie Girl started the 2nd grade today. She goes to a multi-track school so the school year starts pretty early for her. Surprisingly, she was pretty excited about going back. She has lots of her friends in her class!

Yesterday I gave her the option of going anywhere she wanted on her last day of freedom. Do you know what she chose? The library! Boy, I sure didn’t see that one coming. We haven’t been to the public library in years! So off we went . . .

I couldn’t believe how upgraged the public library system is. They have internet services, computerized book catalogs, meeting rooms, and lots of programs for eveyone in the family. You can even borrow DVDs and CDs! It was a great way to spend the afternoon!

Does your family visit your local library?

Wow, if you didn’t know you could borrow CD’s & DVD’s, then you really haven’t been to the library in years! lol :P

We go every couple of weeks. In fact, it’s time for a run back to the library.

I hope Girlie Girl has a great day back to school!

I’m at the library at least once a week, the kids like to go too but it’s under renovation so we haven’t been in a while. About 90% of what I read come from the library.

Your library also probably has some great children’s programs that your kids would love.

Glad she decided to go there. That’s encouraging :) Aloha

It’s funny you should ask we just went to the library today – it was our second time going to this library (we just moved to a new state) and this time I even managed to find two books to check out!

We go to the library quite often in the summer; we don’t really have time to visit during the school year. Most of the time, we reserve books online and pick them up at the drive-thru window.

We go to the public library once a week. We pick out a few books and train DVDs. My son talks about the Sugar Cane train in Maui all the time. I also get books for myself. If I like them I will buy them, but I prefer to get them at the library first. It is also a great place to borrow movies for free in order to save rental fees. Have a wonderful day and take care.

We constantly go to the library. I request books/CDs/DVDs online and go to pick them up. Quick and easy. The boys love going in to pick their own books and DVDs out. We have not rented a movie in forever. For once I feel my tax payer dollars are well spent.

We go to our library about once a week too. I just LOVE our system. They have so many awesome reading programs and I just love that when one of my blog friends post a great review about a book I look it up and place it on hold from my computer…right here! then I get an email when it is my turn to borrow the book and another email when I need to return it. so very cool! and we check out DVDs all the time…in fact my poor child rarely sees movies when they first come out, because we can check them out for free.
I’ve voted two years in a row to raise my taxes for library money and both times it has been voted down. :( I think it would be money much better spent than on other projects that do get passed around here…like more “baby sitting” for our local teens. :p

I”m a bad mom. I don’t take my kids to the library. I can never remember to take the stuff we borrow back on time, so we incur lots of fees. And since we moved, the local library is in a bad location when trying to find parking and get a 2yo in and out efficiently. It’s just easier (and cheaper in my case) to go to Borders.

Wow, that is one nice library!

Good luck to Girlie Girl in school!

I love that at my library, I can “order” what books I want online then they have it waiting for me when I get there to pick up. I don’t even have to search the shelves!! How awesome is that? If the book isn’t available, they’ll get it from another branch too!

Wow! That library is gorgeous! I wish our libraries looked like that. We go to the library every few weeks and check out lots of books and DVD’s. The kids like to play some educational games on the computer while we’re there as well.

They start school in July now? Wow. Kapolei must have grown a lot since I lived in Hawaii, what a pretty library.

We go to the libraray all the time since we moved to the suburbs. I love it and so does my 4yo. We asks to go all the time! How are you feeling these days? How long till Baby Girl #3 makes her appearance?

Where does the time go? My kids still have a few weeks of vacation left. I don’t do the library now that I have my Kindle and iPhone. Crazy hugh?!

That looks like a great public library. I’m not sure if we have any public library close by. It’s nice that Girlie Girl chose to go there instead of the mall.

We go to the library all the time. We’ve been doing the summer programs for about 7 years now.

I love that you can use computers, get the books that way + rent cds, dvd’s & now you can even download audio books to your ipod!

We visit the library (or actually the Bookmobile) every week. We put books on hold and they bring them out to us.

Do you know our local branch CLOSED for the summer? No funding! Crappy, huh?

That looks like a nice library. We like the library..we used to go once a week, its in walking distance to our house so its nice…a free thing to do. Now we go once every few weeks, but we need to start going more.
