Batten Down the Hatches!
There’s a storm headed for Hawaii.
The peak should hit the islands sometime tomorrow with gusts up to 60 mph and wave heights up to 30 feet. All public schools will be closed and precautions are now being taken with some residents taking refuge in shelters across the state.
DH is currently at the store stocking up on the necessities just in case we lose power. How am I preparing for the storm? I have every laptop battery, Nintendo DS, PSP, gameboy, cell phone, and iPod in the house charging at this very moment.
Hey, priorities right?

Wow, stay safe!
I remember Hurricane Iwa when I was little. Is it supposed to be that bad?
Wow. I remember Iwa, too.
Stay safe.
Lol! I’d be charging my stuff too.
Stay safe!
I hope you don’t lose power, but most importantly…stay safe!
charge away we cant be without you blogging but then again stay safe and I will be praying for ya!!
Eh, I hope you don’t need your provisions, but let’s hope that you have plenty of diapers (that is, if Baby Bug still wears them). As for the electronics charging, I’d say they are essential! Must keep the kids and adults entertained in the event of a power outage, right?
Stay safe!
Funny! We got high winds last week and when the lights started flickering I was all “I gotta do laundry, I gotta wash the diapers!”. Funny how your priorities change at times…
Stay safe! I will be thinking of youl
I was surprised they closed schools tomorrow. But can you imagine if we lost power AGAIN?
LOL! I hope it all goes well for you.
do you have a high and dry spot just in case?
just be careful!!!
This will be my first big storm (we just moved to Oahu on Jan 1), and we went out tonight to get extra batteries and another flashlight. We’ve already lost power 3 different times in the past 24 hours (we live in Kaneohe).
I hope that you and your family stay safe.
That’s right
I love how the Nintendo DS, gameboys, etc. are all part of your necessities!
Sending prayers your way that you all stay safe:o)
Oh my! Stay safe!! Update when you can.
I would be doing the same!
Good luck
Stay safe!! Hopefully the store will just fly by and there won’t be much dammage.
Please stay safe. I hope it just passes by without any real damage!
Stay safe and please let us know how things go. We will be thinking of you. Oh and I would be doing the same thing with charging batteries on necessary items like you did
Please be safe!! Keep us posted!!
Absolutely! Hope it’s quick and mild!
Hugs,
Holly
Hey we have to keep the kids happy – and the children too!
Love the priorities. Be safe!!
Stay safe and yes charging everything was a very good idea.
Be safe. I am glad to see that all of the important batteries are charged and ready to go!!!!
Stay Safe! I would be charging everything too!
You are SMART!!! Get your camera batteries in that lineup too just in case you need to snap a few pics of the storm!!
Be safe!
wow! will it hit all the islands the same way? stay safe.
Be safe! Windy here in Alaska too!:)
YOU are a freaking genius! I would never think to charge everything in preparation! AMAZING I TELL YOU!
LOL! Actually charging batteries isn’t a bad idea at all.
I really hope that you are safe in the storm… after all, you have a fishing tournament to attend tomorrow.
I LOVE your priorities!
Keep Hawaii safe….we are heading there in March! Not to mention I was born in Honolulu when my dad was in the Navy. Found your blog today and I will follow you! Stay safe!
Being in Miami, we are no strangers to storms. While my hubby is busy putting up shutters and stuff, I too am in “charging everything in sight” mode.
Stay safe.
Hope all is well with you. I’m not sure what’s worse. A storm like that or the below zero temperatures with windchill we’re having. It felt like it was negative 30 around here yesterday! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr
Charging is a good idea
Schools have been closed, here, too, but it’s due to extreme cold. The temperature, without wind chill, was -19 F here this morning.
I hope wind doesn’t damage your place.
That’s exactly what I would do! Stay safe. I have family in Hawaii too.
Stay safe! Glad you are stocking up and charged up!
Stay safe!! We have been having some big winds here on the mountain tops gusting to 65mph sending the wind chills to -23. It’s just been crazy cold here.
Hope you all don’t lose power!
How are you all? I’ll be praying for you!

I think we just escaped that same storm! We were in Fiji for two days of sunshine followed by 8 days of rain and the worst flooding they’ve ever had. We left 5 days early, finally getting a flight on the 14th…while that storm was just starting to soak them again!
