Ziploc Perfect Portions (Giveaway)

April 11, 2012 by

I’m not much of a leftovers kind of girl. I’ll maybe eat something from the day before but that’s pretty much pushing it. That’s why I’m very careful about how much I cook and how much is left for the next day. Of course, this used to mean that I would have to carefully separate my meats into smaller portions and fill up freezer bags for future use. Such a chore!

However, Ziploc has come up with a solution . . . Ziploc Perfect Portions Freezer System. And they’re so easy to use! Just place your  hand into a bag like a glove, grab your portion, turn the bag inside out, remove the excess air and twist/fold the bag close.

Then place all of your individual portions into a larger Ziploc Heavy Duty Freezer bag and you’re all set!

Not only is this great for people like me who like to cook in smaller portions but it’s also convenient for those who shop in bulk at Costco or Sam’s Club. Every time I buy ground hamburger from those stores I dread having to go home and split the pallet up because it kind of grosses me out to have pieces of raw hamburger under my nails and between my fingers.

I also received the Ziploc Smart Snap XL Bowl which is perfect for taking food to work. As a flight attendant, I get tired of the airplane food and usually bring along my own meals and snacks.

These Smart Snap Bowls are perfect for bringing along sandwich fixings like tuna or egg salad as well as packing cut up fruits and vegetables. And since you can actually hear the cover snap on, I know it won’t leak in my carry-on bag.

Ziploc and Rachael Ray have recently teamed up to launch the Great American FreshOver Project – a two year healthy living initiative encouraging families to “freshover” their outlook on eating by offering recipes, tips, and ways to use Ziploc Brand Containers and Bags. You could also win a trip for two to meet Rachael Ray in NYC by stopping by the Ziploc Brand Facebook Fan Page and posting a FreshOver food idea or tip.

In addition, Ziploc will make a donating to Rachael Ray’s nonprofit organization – Yum-O! – which brings fresh and healthy foods to families across the country. Families can support the cause by “pledging” to start their own FreshOver Project by downloading the free, customizable FreshOver Recipe Guide at Facebook.com/Ziploc. To further support Yum-O!, Rachael Ray and Ziploc will donate an additional $200,000.

Find Curvy Straws in Select Boxes of General Mills Cereal (Giveaway)

April 10, 2012 by

My kids are just like me, once they finish eating the cereal out of the bowl they throw away the leftover milk. I do it because I’ve never been a fan of milk and have a hard time drinking it plain. For my kids, I think it’s because they feel that once the cereal is gone the fun is over. Well, it’s not.

Just look for the participating Big G cereals including Cinnamon Toast Crunch (17 oz.), Lucky Charms (16 oz.), Reese’s Puffs (18 oz.), Honey Nut Cheerios (17 oz.), Trix (14.8 oz)  and Cocoa Puffs (16.5 oz) and you’ll find a Curvy Straw that will make drinking that leftover milk fun! There are six different colors to collect and you can use them individually or connect them to make one really long straw!

And did you know that simply drinking the leftover milk from cereal bowls may help kids work towards fulfilling their body’s daily dairy, calcium, and Vitamin D needs?

I gave my kids some Reese’s cereal and milk along with a Curvy Straw and they drank up every last bit of the milk. In fact, they finished the milk before the cereal and even asked for more!

It’s a great way to get my kids to drink milk and get their daily allowance of calcium!

Need more cereal to go with your milk? Visit this link to download a printable coupon for $1.25 off of the purchase of (2) boxes of participating Big G cereal today!

Hamburger Helper to the Rescue (Giveaway)

March 22, 2012 by

As much as I love cooking a meal from scratch, there are days when I just do not have the time or energy. That’s when products like Hamburger Helper come in to save the day. It’s quick, easy, and my kids’ favorite meal. When I make a Hamburger Helper entree for dinner I know I’ll hear screams of “Yeah!” . . . especially from Kiana.

For 40 years, Hamburger Helper has helped to make family dinner time easy, and now with two new delicious varieties, Ultimate Beef Stroganoff and Cheesy Italian Beef, Hamburger Helper offers even more options for easy family style cuisine. With naturally- flavored mixes and rich, tasty sauces, Hamburger Helper makes a meal your family will be happy to gather around.

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, our family had the opportunity to review both of these brand new flavors and they were a big hit! And this is coming from a family of Hamburger Helper experts! The Hamburger Helper Cheesy Italian Beef features real Italian herbs and pasta enhanced with rich naturally flavored Italian-style sauce mix. The kids liked this entree because it reminded them of macaroni & cheese (just with different kind of noodles). And since Kiana is a cheese lover, this was her favorite dish.

The Hamburger Helper Ultimate Beef Stroganoff provides rich roast beef flavor and pasta with a decadent sour cream flavored sauce mix. When I made this entree I thought the sauce would be thicker but it turned out to be perfect just the way it was.

Like all Hamburger Helper meals, preparation was super easy . . . even Kacie could do it with a little supervision. First, just cook the ground beef and drain the oil. Then add all the ingredients at once – hot water, milk, mix package, & uncooked noodles.

Heat until boiling then cover and reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes are done, remove from heat and leave uncovered until the sauce thickens. That’s it!

What’s really great about Hamburger Helper is that you can add in extra ingredients like fresh or frozen vegetables, sour cream, cottage cheese, and even relish. You can also add toppings to your finished meal like bacon bits, shredded cheese, bread crumbs, french-fried onions, or crushed tortilla chips. The possibilities are endless. And if you’re creative enough, no two Hamburger Helper meals would ever be the same!

So if you’re one of the very few people who have never tried Hamburger Helper and would like to, print out this $0.70 off coupon before you head on out to the store.

Hamburger Helper . . . because who couldn’t use a little help in the kitchen once in a while?
