LEAN POCKETS “Hot Combinations” Giveaway

I have to admit that sandwiches are not exactly my favorite lunchtime meal. I mean, they’re okay but there are other things I would rather be eating. Maybe it’s because it’s usually the same ‘ol fixings . . . cold cuts, tuna, or grilled cheese. And apparently, about 50% of the population agrees with me.

According to a survey conducted by the LEAN POCKETS brand …

  • On average, Americans eat the same meal four times per week
  • Nearly half of Americans think the lunchtime staple grilled cheese needs a makeover
  • 20% would give the turkey club a redo
  • 49% of Americans think hot and savory is the most irresistible flavor combo

LEAN POCKETS sandwiches released the survey results to help illustrate how Americans can spice up their menus in 2014, using its latest product line which features 19 flavorful varieties. The protein and pretzel bread in LEAN POCKETS sandwiches deliver on the hot and savory combination consumers crave and help them introduce variety and flavor into their meals and snacks.

When I’m on-the-go, LEAN POCKETS are always my go-to meal. They’re quick, healthy and delicious. My favorite is the Chicken, Broccoli and Cheddar. The white chicken meat is always tender and the whole grain crust is filled with real cheese . . . all nice and gooey. What’s not to love?

Keurig & NEW Lipton K-Cups – Perfect for the Holidays (Giveaway)

November 24, 2013 by Kailani

I’ve always been more of a coffee drinker but thanks to the new Lipton Tea K-Cups I’ve found myself enjoying hot and iced teas more and more these days.

We all know Lipton as America’s iconic tea brand and thanks to a partnership with Green Mountain Roasters we can now brew a fresh cup of tea in no time! There are 3 different varieties for you to enjoy . . .

  • Refresh: This crisp and refreshing iced sweet tea is made of fresh pressed tea leaves and sweetened with cane sugar. Fresh brew over ice for an easy and refreshing mid-day uplift.
  • Indulge: Tea drinkers can savor the taste of rich black tea from fresh-pressed tea leaves, blended with delicious natural flavors for an indulgent aroma and taste.
  • Soothe: The smooth green tea is made from tender green tea leaves, herbs and other natural flavors. The delicate taste of Soothe green tea is an invitation to relax.

Now, I had the opportunity to try all three varieties and  have to say that my favorite was the Lipton Refresh. It’s the perfect afternoon pick-me-up before I have to get the kids from school. I like that it’s already sweetened but not overly so since I like to be able to taste the tea and not the sugar. Of course, the Lipton Indulge was great, too, with a hint of vanilla. The Lipton Soothe had an interesting mix of citrus and mint.

However, the best part of these new Lipton Teas is that they’re available in K-Cups! Talk about quick and convenient! Just a push of a button and I can get a perfect cup of ice tea in seconds. You can drink them hot or over ice. Pour it into a travel mug and you’re all set for the day. I can’t even imagine using a traditional coffee/tea maker anymore.

Lipton K-Cups are available in 10-count, 16-count, and 22-count boxes at your local grocery store.

So with the busy holiday season coming up, why not stock up on your favorite Lipton Tea to help you get through your hectic day!

Farmer John Hams for the Holidays (Giveaway)

November 24, 2012 by Kailani

When I think about holiday inspired foods I always think of things like turkey, stuffing, and of course . . . ham. One of the things that I really like about hams is that they’re so easy to prepare and they make a great addition to any meal whether it’s the main course, a side dish, or an addition to salads. So when we had the recent opportunity to participate in a blogging campaign for Farmer John we were thrilled!

Our Farmer John ham arrived on our doorstep ready to be heated and enjoyed. I was asked to come up with a local recipe flavor and of course the first ingredient I thought of was pineapple. It’s the way my family has always enjoyed hams in the past. However, coming up with other items for the sauce was a little more difficult. In the end, I decided on main ingredients like soy sauce, ketchup, and rice vinegar.

Hawaiian Holiday Ham

  • 1 Farmer John Half Ham
  • 1 – 12oz can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tbsp shoyu
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Combine ingredients and heat in saucepan for 5 minutes under MEDIUM heat.

Place half ham into a baking dish (flat side down) and cover with sauce mixture.

Cover and heat in oven 350 degrees for 15 minutes per pound. When done, let ham sit for 5-10 before uncovering.

Cut and serve.

What I really like about the Farmer John hams is that they’re fully cooked. All you’re really doing is heating it up which is a relief on my part since I’m always kind of worried about thick cuts of meat being cooked all the way through. The only downside about the ham was that I was supposed to cook it based on weight but I couldn’t find how much the ham weighed listed anywhere on the packaging. In the end, I had to place it onto a postal scale in order to get the correct heating time.

Once I removed it from the pan and started slicing it I knew this was going to be good. It was so easy to cut and the knife went through the meat with pretty much no effort at all. I placed all the slices into a dish, topped it with the pineapple sauce mixture, and we were ready to go.

At my parent’s house, I received so much compliments on how it turned out. The meat was soft and tender and even the kids loved it! And the best part, because the Farmer John ham is more ham than bone we have tons of leftovers! We’ll be enjoying ham casserole and soup all week long!

So when you’re planning your holiday meals don’t forget to include Farmer John ham. It will definitely be a big hit with all of your guests!
