Build-a-Bear Workshop recently introduced two new fun packs perfect for goody bags and party gifts. The first is a Build-a-Bear Workshop Fun Pack plus Furry Friend which are available at your local Target, Walmart, Toys R Us and other retailers where you probably shop often. This is great news for us since Hawaii no longer has Build-a-Bear Workshop stores. The other is Build-a-Bear Workshop Trading Card Fun Packs which have also just hit the shelves in BABW stores.

The Build-a-Bear Workshop Fun Pack plus Furry Friend ($5.99) comes with a Furry Friend, shirt, fabric stickers, trading cards, activity card, and a Bearville.com code that you can use online. It also includes the steps to conduct your own Heart Ceremony just like they do in the stores.

The Build-a-Bear Workshop Trading Card Fun Packs ($1.99) includes 3 trading cards, 2 activity cards, 1 card with various temporary tattoos, and an online code to be used on the website.

Each trading card comes with a great color photo of the furry friend along with details like their name, status (active, retired, specialty), physical characteristics, personality trait, and a fun fact. They’re brightly colored and are fun to collect and trade!

The activity cards that we received were a “Can you find?” card where you had to find 6 hidden objects in a scene and a “Scratch-Offs” days of the week card where you’ll find a hidden message like “Speak Bear Latin by using the word bear in every sentence. It’s Beary fun!”

The kids had so much fun playing with the little furry friend and trading cards amongst each other. And since we can now purchase these locally I know we’ll be adding to our collective very soon. It’s a Beary good time!

Learning Fun With Felt Giveaway

When it comes to imaginative play that’s fun and leaves pretty much no mess to clean up, felt boards are a winner. When Kacie was younger we used to see felt boards in all the stores but for some reason we can’t find them anymore. That’s why we were so happy to learn about the website Learning Fun With Felt.

Our Learning Fun with Felt line includes over 30 sets to inspire creativity in children. With the moveable pieces and personal-sized play boards, they can engage in imaginative play by arranging and rearranging the pre-cut felt pieces over and over again. Each time they create new and exciting stories as they experience the fun and magic of felt and leaves a lasting impression.

We received 3 boards to try out – Let’s Play House, Fun In The Sun, & Under The Sea ($16.95 each).

When they first arrived my kids couldn’t wait to start playing. Each set comes with over 20 pre-cut felt pieces and a felt board that measures approximately 15″ x 12.5″. I thought this was the perfect size since it’s large enough to allow lots of play room yet compact enough to take it along to Grandma’s house. It even comes with it’s own see-thru handled carrying case.

The girls’ favorite set was Let’s Play House because they could design the rooms with furniture, people, and other types of objects like a picture frame, laptop, and clock. The play board is divided into 5 rooms – master bedroom, kids bedroom, nursery, living room, and kitchen. Each one is brightly colored which adds to the imaginative fun!

Fun In The Sun is just like a day at the beach for us. There are kids, various foods, sand toys, swim gear, and many more play items that make this play set the next best thing to being there. Most of the board is covered with a sand theme while the top right corner shows some cool blue water. There are also some accessories that you can place on the kids to get them ready for some water fun.

Under The Sea takes you on an ocean adventure as you arrange various underwater creatures like fish, whales, otters, seals, plant life and many more. Since the belt board is pretty much an empty ocean scene your child can place the felt pieces anywhere their heart desires. Sharks can swim with seahorses. Dolphins can swim with divers. Whatever your child’s imagination can dream of can come true on this play board.

What we liked about these felt play boards is that the pieces really stick well. This is important to us since Kiana loves to show off her creations. It would be a real tragedy for her if the pieces moved every time she picked up the board.

We also liked the variety of pieces that each set contained. Even the smallest item like sunscreen helps to make the overall picture realistic. But the best thing is that the kids can use these boards over and over again. This helps to foster their imaginations and make each play different from the last. This ensures that they won’t get bored any time soon. In fact, Kiana has been playing with her board every single day since we got it. Plus, it’s quite play! Yay!

So stop by Learning Fun With Felt to see these and other cool felt board themes. They even have educational sets that teach ABCs, numbers, shapes, and numbers. There’s something for every child’s interests.

My Baby Clothes ($25 GC Giveaway)

Kaila has a lot of clothes which is no surprise since she does have two older sisters. Therefore, I really don’t feel the need to purchase new clothes for her unless it’s something that I really want. And after checking out My Baby Clothes, I think we’ll be adding to Kaila’s wardrobe very soon.

As mothers, we understand that you want the best for your children. We try to give you the best of the best in the market without having to pay high prices. Many of our designer baby clothes come from famous designers like Nicole Miller, O’Neill, Jamie Rae, Bonnie Jean, and Mud Pie.

We had the opportunity to select an item to review and decided on the Mud Pie Little Sprout Sundress ($24.99). What I really liked were the bright colors which is perfect for Spring and the cute ribbon flower. So feminine! I figured when Kaila wore it no one would even guess that she was such a tomboy.

When it arrived, Kaila couldn’t wait to put it on. She was so excited that once I got it over her head she started dancing and twirling around. I thought I would never get a decent photo of her. And once our little photo shoot was over she refused to take it off. This is coming from a kid who refuses to wear clothes whenever she’s at home. Seriously!

What I like about our Mud Pie Little Sprouts Sundress are all the details that make it so adorable. The polka dot ribbon flower, the three-tiered fluffy skirt, the grosgrain ribbon belt that ties in the back, and the super soft 100% machine washable cotton fabric.

I also love how well made this dress is. All the seams are reinforced and the biases top stitched which means that this outfit will hold it’s shape and last for a very long time.

But the best part is that it’s just so darn cute! This is the perfect dress for a special party, photo shoot, or hunting Easter eggs. The colors look great in person and in photographs. And I don’t know about you but bright colors always puts me in a great mood.

So stop by My Baby Clothes and check out their kids clothing as well as tutus, baby clothing, baby headbands, and even baby hats. There’s something there for every child!

Elmo’s World: Favorite Things!

La la la la. La la la la. Elmo’s World.

I bet almost every child (and parent) knows how that song goes. All I have to do is see a picture of Elmo and that tune immediately starts playing in my head. Elmo’s World debuted in 1998 and regularly plays during the last 15 minutes of each Sesame Street episode. Each segment follows a familiar pattern in which Elmo introduces his pet fish Dorothy and the topic of day. It’s then followed by a skit by Mr. Noodle, real life children giving their take on the topic, video of a child in a real life setting, Dorothy imagining Elmo playing out various roles relating to the subject, as well as “Computer” sending emails to Elmo and a counting segment. All of this is shown in a computer animated crayon-drawn room imagined by Elmo himself.

In Elmo’s World: Favorite Things! we’re entertained with 4 segments dealing with:

  • Dinosaurs
  • Building Things
  • Birthdays
  • School

Our favorite episode was Birthdays because we were able to celebrate Dorothy’s special day. The kids on the show explained how they wrapped gifts for her – like a new rock for her fish tank and fish food. They also presented her with a tiny cake for this special occasion. We also saw the hilarious Mr. Noodle try to wrap a tiny gift box with a huge piece of wrapping paper only to have him get tangled up in the tape. Kaila even tried to blow out the candles on the screen after counting them on the cake.

What we really like about Elmo’s World is that not only does it teach educational content like counting and enumeration but also social skills including self-confidence, friendship, and conflict resolution. In Elmo’s World: Favorite Things! the emotional development and cognitive reasoning curriculums are reinforced for preschoolers as they have fun discovering and exploring new and exciting activities.

Elmo’s World: Favorite Things! is a great addition to any family video library. In fact, we’ve watched it a few times already and even Kiana (6) still enjoys it. Elmo’s world is and always will be a classic.

Purchase your copy of Elmo Worlds: Favorite Things at Amazon.com for $11.99.
