The Auditions are now closed. A winner will be announced shortly.
Thank you for your participation!
Update: You guys are hilarious! Who knew there was so much talent out there! ROFL! Don’t forget that you can come back and audition as many times as you wish. The more times you audition, the better your chance of winning! Good luck!
Do you remember Wendy’s Monthly Casting Calls? Sadly, a while back she decided to leave the blogging world and I really miss her and her auditions. It was a fun way to get to know new bloggers and so cool to interact with them in real time. In fact, I made some really great friends there and still keep in touch with them today.
For those not familiar with it, this is how it works. Auditions run for about 48 hours. During this time you should leave a comment showing off your virtual talents - singing, dancing, juggling (hee hee), etc.) - and shining in the spotlight. Everytime you “audition”, you’ll also need to visit the person who came before you and leave a comment on their blog. You may want to mention that you’re visiting via The Auditions so they know what’s going on. The person who comments after you will stop by your blog and leave a comment with you. . . and so on. Make sense? Feel free to come back and audition as many times as you wish. The more times you audition, the more visits you’ll get from other bloggers.
What do you think? Not only will you get to meet new bloggers and hopefully increase traffic and comments to your blog, a random winner will also be selected to receive cool button to display, and a permanent spot on my blogroll. If there’s enough interest, I may make this a monthly feature and add a spot in my sidebar to display the winner’s blog link until the next audition.
So if you’re ready, The Auditions are about to begin. Warm up those vocal chords, dust off the piano, or maybe even bust out the magic tricks - whatever your talent is, now it’s your turn to shine in the spotlight!

I don’t think I get it. How are we supposed to show off our skills? And where do we leave them and know who to visit?
Not a clue here!

Sorry I confused you! It’s basically all pretend. You can type a short portion of a song (if you want to sing) and pretend it’s you singing. For example:
*singing* Oh beautiful, for spacious skies . . . *while tap dancing in my stilettos* Now that’s talent! LOL!
Leave it in the comments on this audition post. Then look at the comment left before yours and visit that person’s blog. Since you were the first to comment, there isn’t anyone ahead of you.
Hope it make sense now!

Okay, now I get it! But I’m here visiting you already! And I visited Renee too. We need more auditioners I guess!

it’s been quite a while since i’ve been in here and i thought this was such a cute idea! i don’t get around the bloggers world much because there was a time i did that quite a bit and i think i overloaded myself. but, here’s me giving it a go!
“Iiiiiii’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts,
Deedlee deeddleee dee
big ones, small ones, some as big as your head”
I don’t quite know where that song came from but a friend of mine used to sing it all the time!

with colors from red to green,
color my world Crayola,
with every color in between
with so many colors from which to choose
it’s going to be hard to decide which ones to use
I’m going to color my world Crayola
Going to color my world with love”
This is currently Alex’s favorite song, so it is ALWAYS in my head! I have to say that Renee has one of my favorites though!!!

Hahha….this look like fun. I’ll give it a try.
For my act, I’ll sing a stanza from the theme song of my daughter’s favorite cartoon:
We’re going on a trip
in our favorite rocket ship
Zooming through the sky,
Little Einsteins
Climb aboard,
get ready to explore
There’s so much to find,
Little Einsteins
We’re going on a mission,
start the countdown

All I can think of are songs from my daughter’s Fisher Price piano….*ahem*clearing throat*singing….

Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain,
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again!

I’ll audition!!!
Okay…I’m going to sing and dance.
“Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Well there’s nothing to lose
And there’s nothing to prove
Ill be dancing with myself”
Need a better “picture of me doing this?

Now, singing is not my forte. I knew this when my mom said to me, “Cathi, your kids would sing on key if you weren’t the one teaching them the songs!”
Big Smile!!

Renee took a great song and I was thinking the same idea as Karen but she already did it - though dishes, laundry, little kids and everything else really is a juggling act and a talent!
So for my performance I’ll sing a portion of my son’s favorite Backyardigans songs.
If you want to be a pirate,
Get up on your feet.
You can’t be a pirate,
If you’re sitting in your seat.
Swing your arms tough,
And stand kind of low,
And make this noise wherever you go.
Arrr! Arrr! Arrr!
A pirate, a pirate, a pirate says “Arrr!”
It might seem strange, just a bit bizarre,
But they know you’re a pirate,
When they hear you say “Arrr!”
*curtsy* thank you

Groovy takes a deep breath and climbs the ladder. The crowd watches in hushed expectation. What stunt shall she perorm? Will it be a triple somersault? Her graceful princess wave leap? Her powerful handspring dismount?
She poises herself carefully 3 rungs from the bottom and leaps off backward.
OH NO! Something has gone drastically wrong! Groovy misses her landing and stumbles backward over an errant Christmas tree (why is there a Christmas Tree laying on its side behind her?) . Now she rolling pell-mell down some steps and…OW! She just slammed the back of her head on the concrete floor (discretely hidden by a thin layer of multipurpose carpeting).
The crowd (all 1 of them) screams and calls the for the medics. Surely there is a concussion. Surely there are broken bones.
Groovy surprises them all by standing unsteadily to her feet and yelling, “Im ALL right!”
The crowd cheers! The judges give her a 10. Her fans throw rose petals at her.
Her chiropractor sends her bills…

I am artfully poised, waiting for the music to begin… my size 1 self is dressed in a beautiful pink ballerina tutu, the music begins and I pirouette around the stage with my hair flowing behind me, Prince Charming steps onto the stage ready to catch me as I gracefully leap into the air (and of course he wouldn’t drop me since I am only a size 1 and very light), he spins me around and then I dance beautifully off the stage to the sounds of uproarious applause.

She begins her routine slowly, twirling serenly. Add a few acrobatic leaps, a few more twirls gaining speed. Suddenly, she tosses the baton into the air with all her might. Uh-oh. The sun!! It’s in her eyes… The crowd takes a breath and holds it… The baton is careening toward her, and…. she catches it!!! And ends with a dramatic flourish!
*cue crowd uproariously applauding*

Yeah, this is way cool and I say this standing here in my leotard with my pink braided sweatband and matching pink leg warmers. I’m all stretched out and my legs are fluttering (okay, they quit fluttering years ago) and I’m belting out Maniac…can you here?
“Just a still town girl on a saturday night, lookin’ for the fight of her life
In the real-time world no one sees her at all, they all say she’s crazy
Locking rhythms to the beat of her heart, changing woman into life
She has danced into the danger zone, when a dancer becomes a dance
It can cut you like a knife, if the gift becomes the fire
On a wire between will and what will be
She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before”
Whewww! Need to cool off a bit. And put things back on the walls that might have fallen off! You’re too fun, Kailani! xo

OOO! Fun! Okay, I love to sing. I sing solos, in groups, etc. My favorite way to sing is in my women’s barbershop chorus, so I’m going to sing a line from our competition uptune! And I’m also doing the choreo with it!!! Imagine, if you will, a parade coming up the street…
“Do you hear the beat? A way down the street?
Do you hear the neat little rhythm of the happy dancing feet?”
(LOUDER…)
“Well, look there, the people are runnin’ and RIGHT now, they’re gonna have a lot of fun!
Make way, ’cause everybody’s comin’ and YOU’LL see a big parade!
(LOUDER NOW!)
“HEY, BOY, you’re really gonna celebrate! Hear that! Listen to the clarinet…Your feet are really gonna palpitate when you march around!”
Whew…how was that?

I always knew that somehow, someway this dream would come true. And today is THE day!
As I walk nervously towards the stage my heart is pounding harder and heavier than it has ever pounded before. I get the giggles. I can’t help but smile from ear to ear.
He meets me at the steps and takes my hand. My heart skips a beat! He leads me to a stool and as I climb on it the music begins. We look into each others eyes and he begins to sing….
“And they called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they’ll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so
And they called it puppy love
Just because we’re in our teens
Tell them all, please tell them it isn’t fair
To take away my only dream
I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I’ll hope and I’ll pray that maybe someday
You’ll be back in my arms once again
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love
Not a puppy love”
And after all is said and done he gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. Of course I say YES! And we live happily ever after!
Oh, and my talent during all of this was swaying back and forth and giggling and not breaking a sweat as Donny sang to only me!
What a nice day this has turned out to be!

For my next trick, I will sing in the proper key of Julie Andrews as she sings…
*music meastro*
Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with
A-B-C
When you sing you begin with do-re-mi
Do-re-mi
Do-re-mi
The first three notes just happen to be
Do-re-mi
Do-re-mi
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Oh, let’s see if I can make it easier
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow sew
Tea, I drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to do…oh oh oh
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow sew
Tea, I drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do
Doe, a deer, a female deer
