Social Bookmarking Sites

Over the past year, I’ve noticed an increase in the number of social bookmarking sites. These sites allow you to submit your post for inclusion and will usually display it on their homepage in the beginning. Then it’s up to everyone else that uses each of these sites to decide (vote) whether your post stays there or gets buried. With time and effort, social bookmarking sites have been proven to generate a lot of additional traffic. Gotta love that!

One of my blogging goals for this year was to start taking these site more seriously. Sure, I submit my own stuff as well as some of my blogging friends, vote when I’m asked, and even submit a post review now and then. However, I realized that I needed to take a more active role if I wanted my efforts to pay off.

This is where you come in. I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to share and exchange their profiles and contacts. Here you can find my accounts on Stumble Upon, Technorati, and Digg. In addition, you can also find me at sk*rt, facebook, and The Mom Blog Network. If you’d like to add me as a friend, I would be more than happy to reciprocate. Or if there’s a social bookmarking site that has been working for you, please let everyone know!

Together, we can all help each other out.

I’ll admit that I don’t even know what Technorati and Digg and all those things are about. I ‘ve used myspace and facebook, but I guess I haven’t used them to get blog traffic. Maybe I’ll have time today to get out there and check these sites out!

I’m so on board with you!
Btw, I considered Twitter, but don’t want to slow my page load time. I took a lot of stuff from my sidebar, just for that reason.

I use some of those off and on. I’m on Facebook and Twitter, but honestly just don’t have the time to figure out what all of the excitement is about. I’ve added you to my ‘friends’ or favorites everywhere I can though! :)

I have a myspace page! That is how Mr. “S” and I met back up after 12 years! =) It was the best thing that could have ever happened to me! We had both been married and divorced! We had both kind of been through the same things! We had so much in common…it was GREAT…it was like nothing we would have EVER thought!

We both came into each others life at the PERFECT time! =)

I only just joined StumbleUpon, I am MemarieLane on there. Anyone can feel free to add me on there.

I have to say that I learned very quickly (and not pleasantly) that you’re not supposed to review or even just thumb-up any of your own pages, or even thumb-up your friends’ sites more than once or twice. There’s nothing against it in the TOS, but other Stumblers that see it will give you bad reviews if they see you’ve done it. Also SU will ban any sites from being Stumbled that they feel is being unnaturally Stumbled. So you have to be really careful.

I wish they had more information for new users, thehy just expect everyone to know this stuff, and we have to find it out the hard way.

And here I sit just trying to keep up with my reading of other blogs…LOL You’re always one step ahead my dear. ;) I’ll have to do more research on these sites. In the meantime I have to tell you how cute Baby Bug’s debut was, how crazy the drunk passenger story was and that I’m wishing you speedy resolves to the server problems!

I think the only one I have an account with is delicious. Then I just stop “marking” everything. Makes me feel too much like a very territorial dog.

If I like something, I put it in MY favorites on my computer and nowhere else. It’s all just waaay too overwhelming to me.

    Kailani,
I’m so glad you posted this. I’m like most of the other ladies who posted. I’m so clueless about this stuff, but have heard it can really increase traffic.

I’m with you!! I am on Stumble Upon. Technorati, and just joined The Mom Blog Network.

I’ve made you my friend in Stumble Upon and a fav in Technorati, but still trying to find my way in TMBN.

If you can tell me how to add you as a friend, it might save me some time. :)

IF any of you folks want to reciprocate with me, just let me know.
