Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

Do you have any eating habits that people think are strange?

  1. Diane says:

i’m actually kinda… ok, very picky. so probably everything i do when it comes to eating is probably a little strange, maybe even annoying.

  2. Jennifer says:

    Not to my knowledge.

  3. Hmm, I don’t eat syrup on pancakes – I eat them with butter and sugar on them instead. I hate soggy pancakes. :)

  4. Vicki says:

I like a peanut butter samich with my chilli

I also like to put Ruffles on my sammies & smash them

I like me a peanut butter and bologna samich too.

  5. Ric says:

Dipping grilled cheese into western dressing. I also enjoy grilled penut butter sandwiches. Also Canadian bacon pizza and sauerkraut

  6. Michelle says:

I love doritos with lemon and hot sauce, particularly Tapitio. Most people think it is gross, until they try it.

  7. Louise says:

I close my eyes when I take a bite

  8. Renee says:

my hubby thinks it is strange that I don’t like peanut butter, yams or beer.
but other than that I think I’m pretty normal. ;D

  9. Nightowlmama says:

I have a strange habit of holding my pink up when I drink

  10. Heatherlyn says:

    I don’t think so.

  11. Auntie E says:

I do not know. I like to drink my coffee in the morning, sometimes it get cold… but I will still drink it. Hubby thinks that’s strange:-)

  12. Filipinos have a lot of food that are considered ’strange’ that I eat. I eat ‘balut’ (boiled egg with an unhatched duckling inside it) and sea weeds, or fried fish heads.

As for eating habits, hubby thinks it’s strange that I don’t touch food like fried chicken when i eat it. Or that i use knife and fork to eat pizza.

  13. Kari A. says:

I go through spells where I just eat one thing. Hey, if it tastes good, right?

  14. I don’t think so…I hope not!!!

  15. Melissa says:

Not that I know of. I hope not! LOL

  16. Sarah says:

I tend to break off pieces of sandwiches and eat them rather than eating the sandwich whole.

There has to be something else…

Oh – sometimes I sprinkle salt on my watermelon. My husband thinks that’s pretty strange.

  17. Nope – I don’t think I do.

  18. I refuse to eat meat “off of the bone” — you know like ribs, drumsticks…blayhhhyk!!!

  19. Michelle says:

I eat ketchup on odd things . . . a leftover habit from childhood.

Also, I eat too fast . . . also a leftover from having to compete with 5 siblings for 2nds at the dinner table.

  20. smellyann says:

Not really, although I’m a semi-vegetarian, which some people think is weird, and I’m also very picky.

  21. Angela says:

I like to dip my french fries in mayo, which is probably not very healthy and sometimes grosses people out. I don’t see how it’s any different than dipping in Ranch dressing! I also don’t like whipped cream, and people seem to think that’s so weird.

  22. Yes!
    1. I dip my pepperoni pizza into ranch dressing
    2. I always say I don’t eat pork, yet I eat bacon, fried pork chops, pork rinds, and ham sandwiches! I’m such a liar that way…

  23. helk yes!!!! i eat icing only off of cakes! omg i don’t like eating out of the jar either….i have to have it off a cake that’s made!

  24. Kimberly says:

I don’t like tomatoes but by themselves but I love pico de gallo. I hate them on burgers and sandwiches too. But I love me some ketchup!

  25. OTIN says:

I like ketchup on steak, even if the steak is a $30 dollar piece of fillet!

  26. When I eat cookie dough ice cream (not often) I save all of the cookie dough to the end. It drives my hubby bonkers!

  27. Nope, not me!! *L*

  28. Sarah Mines says:

I actually do not like people that I really dont know to see me eat.

  29. Denise says:

I am not sure that I do have any eating habits that are strange.

  30. I don’t think I’m all that strange. I do love dipping french fries into both ranch dress and ketchup at the same time. I like to dip lots of things into ranch like club sandwiches and pizza crust. Too bad it is so bad.

I don’t mind drinking most soda flat, although don’t leave it out so it becomes that way but if it is I’ll still drink it.

I drink the leftover milk in my cereal bowl. I never thought that was strange until someone told me it was gross. I still think a lot of people do this. Why waste?

  31. I am an extremely picky eater…so yes!

  32. Heather says:

HI:) I really like bitter tastes, like grapefruit, pale ales my kids think it’s horrible:)

  33. Selene Montgomery says:

I put ketchup on hard-fried egg sandwiches.
I want ketchup on steak, not steak sauce.
I want ketchup on hush puppies, not butter.
    (See a pattern here?)
I also drink the leftover milk out of my cereal bowl.
I don’t like syrup, so if I have to eat pancakes, I use ketchup (yep, back to that again!)

  34. abby says:

hmm… i like eating green mangoes dipped in vinegar, salt, and chillies.

  35. My husband thinks my eating rituals are strange when it comes to pancakes, french toast, or waffles. I first, butter everything on both sides, then I stack them up and cut them into small pieces. Finally, I smother the pieces in syrup and can take a bite. (By this time, he’s already halfway done with his. :)

  36. My husband thinks that eating peanut butter & banana sandwiches is weird. I think it’s quite normal! LOL

  37. LZ says:

Definitely. I eat one part of my meal at a time and don’t move on until it’s finished. Also, I don’t drink with my meals.

  38. I smell everything before I eat it, and I am obsessed w/ the expiration dates on food, if it says it has expired I toss it even if it smells and looks ok

  39. Toni says:

I have several, but a few come to mind like the fact I warm my milk in the microwave before pouring it in my coffee! My mom’s friend did this, so it totally stuck to me. He did it for his tea, which I drank a lot of back then, so I started doing it for my coffee. Makes sense when you think about it. Why pour cold milk into a hot cup of coffee?

Several years ago, I got hooked on celery. Raw celery, with nothing on it! I was like an addict with drugs, I had to have it and I didn’t like sharing. I would buy stalks, clean it, cut it up and eat it like there was no tomorrow. Finally, last fall, it stopped. I didn’t have the need anymore! Weird, eh?

  40. I like to put coleslaw on my field peas…don’t knock it till you try it! :-)

  41. Nancy says:

Hmm. . .nothing too weird!! Some people cringe when I tell them one of my favs is a peanut butter and banana sandwich made with toasted cinnamon raisin bread ~ Yummy!!!

  42. Mighty M says:

I like a little ketchup in my mac n cheese. I think peanut butter tastes good with just about anything (including mac n cheese). But peanut butter AND ketchup together – no way!

  43. Oh my goodness, my wife thinks everything about my eating habbits is strange.

  44. Mommy Vent says:

I put ketchup on my steak… hey you put ketchup on your hamburger and what is that?? ground up steak

  45. Elle says:

You bet! I don’t like my food to touch the other food on the plate. Weird!

  46. Nichol says:

Not really I always put my corn in my mashed potatos and then my meat goes in with it. So every meal with roast, meatloaf or ham dinners its a big mess on my plate!

  47. Whitney says:

I can not sit & eat if there are crumbs on the table. It makes me sick.. A lot of people think that is weird.

  48. chris says:

i cant eat many dishes simultaneously.. one kind of food at a time…

  49. blueviolet says:

I’m pretty sure all my habits are strange, lol. But, yes, the way I eat chicken is odd. I very carefully pull it apart and make sure that I pull out any veins or dark colored questionable anythings.

  50. Abby says:

I really can’t think of any. I am pretty adventerous and will eat most things but I don’t think I do anything to strange with my food.

  51. I can jump from food to food – such as pickles to ice cream to oranges to popcorn, etc. :) My hubby thinks that’s weird – lol!

  52. idon’t think it’s weird because a lot of people have the same issues…. texture. i don’t like a lot of foods because of the texture.

but i guess that’s a food issue and and not an eating habit. i can’t think of any odd eating habits.

  53. mommy-momo says:

hmmm… not sure? I like dried salted seaweed? thats weird to ppl. love artichokes, sardines…

  54. Brea's Mommy says:

OOdles and Noodles with hot dogs cut up in them and of course my martins potato chip boloney sandwich!

  55. Storm says:

My food cannot touch each other.

  56. Just a few things i dislike that most people seem to like: french fries, popcorn and eggs. I like them now more than I used to but still not very much.

  57. Jen says:

my husband thinks it’s weird that i eat mustard on my egg sandwiches. i don’t think that’s all that weird!

  58. Heather says:

Hmm. My husband thinks it’s weird that I like ketchup in my macaroni and cheese. Other than that I don’t like ketchup and don’t use it. I use to eat sour cream sandwiches when I lived in my first apartment (19 years old) and didn’t have a lot of money for food. I got my roommate to eat them too. I’d get the bread all crispy in a pan, with paprika first, then came the sour cream. I know, weird.

  59. Aunt LoLo says:

Hmm…I love chewy meat. Those carmelized bits on the end of roasts? MINE. It must be lean meat – no gristle or anything like that…I just like my steak a little on the jerky side. ;-)

  60. Kari says:

Not really. Some people think it’s strange that I don’t like salt, but, that’s about it.

  61. Kim says:

I frequently get teased because I do not like any food on my plate touching it’s neighbor. I am a big fan of everything in it’s place. :)

  62. Shari says:

I’m Japanese-American and I don’t eat sushi–some people think that’s odd, but they are just stereotyping

  63. Heather says:

I’ve made a mistake with my links! I first linked the wrong post, then I think I may have linked the correct post twice. Is there a way to get rid of the other two links?

  64. IE Mommy says:

mmmmm? I don’t think so…at least no one has every mentioned it. Maybe they are all just being nice? But I do like, no love ketchup on practically everything!

My question is about food too! Swing on by and answer :)

  65. Josie says:

Not really…. I am kind of picky! :)

  66. Linda K says:

Not unless you think it is weird to put potato chips in a ham sandwich for some added crunch and saltiness

  67. NerdMom says:

I pick the toppings and cheese off my pizza and eat them separately with a fork. Then I eat the crust.

  68. Nina says:

I can’t think of any. I am so picky about food that strange combos wouldn’t happen with me.

  69. Megan says:

Not that I’m aware of. lol

  70. Pegsy says:

Hmmm, I’m not sure…would have to ask some people, I guess! I try to avoid foods that make my hands or face messy, like fried chicken, ribs, or watermelon! I hate cleaning myself up afterwards! lol

  71. Baba says:

Skipping Breakfast. I know it’s not healthy but I just can’t eat that early in the day.

  72. Julie L. says:

I once sustained myself a whole summer just on Mayo Sandwiches (and beer). It’s exactly what it sounds like…two pieces of bread spread with mayo. I wasn’t making a lot of money back then and what was left over after rent I spent on going to punk& ska shows. There wasn’t a whole lot of income for nutrition.

Fast-forwarding 15 years or so, I now eat very well. But every once in a while I’ll make myself a mayo sandwich because it brings me back to the good ol’ days.

  73. I don’t think I have any unusual eating habit. Or perhaps I may just not be aware of it.

  74. Ashlee says:

I don’t. My husband, on the other hand, is a weirdo! He doesn’t like his food touching. Meaning: his corn can’t touch his meat or his meat can’t touch his potato. Oddball!! Great question!

  75. 1955nurse says:

I love alot of Exotic foods, from other places – and where I live now if it’s not fried it’s not real food! (Southerners and their fried stuff!)

  76. *Just Jen* says:

    I dip popcorn in mustard.

  77. valmg says:

    Me? Oh yeah.
I don’t eat any food on a bone. I buy boneless or someone debones.
    I don’t like nuts.
    I don’t like fish.
    That’s just for starters.

  78. I eat my Big Mac in 2 sections – the “top” which actually resembles a burger and then the “bottom”, which is 1 meat patty, cheese and sauce on the bottom bun.

Oh, and I love ketchup on home made mac and cheese!

  79. Valerie says:

I like to eat my fries with mayonnaise and ketchup. My hubs saids that I am strange because when making a sandwich I like to spread my mayo on both insides of the bread. I don’t think either one of them are strange. lol

  80. Here we go! For breakfast I like cooked rice with milk and sugar or bread with applesauce on it! For lunch I love apple slices dipped in mayo! Yum! When I was a kid I would put pepper on my ice cream. My friends would freak out but I really couldn’t taste it! Immature taste buds or something!

  81. I’m very picky. I don’t like ketchup, mayonnaise, relish, mustard and most dips or dressing. I eat my burgers, hotdots and salads plain.

  82. Pamela says:

Tofu instead of meat when I have the choice at Asian restaurant

  83. Two things, I eat too fast and I’m not too picky about what I stick in my face:)

  84. Em Dy says:

Since going on a diet, I don’t finish an entire banana on my own. I half it and share it with a friend. My friends have to eat the banana even if they’re not in the mood for it.

  85. Mary says:

The only thing I can think of is that I drink A LOT of tea. Like, at every restaurant and fast food. My mom thinks it’s gross that I almost never add sugar and drink it bitter. I don’t know if that’s “weird,” though.

  86. Oh yeah – the only ingredient I put on a hamburger – AVOCADO!!! Get strange looks every time I order in a restaurant.

  87. Hayley says:

Bologna, mayonaise, and ketchup sandwich! Yum!
