Aloha Friday #44

August 7, 2008

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Today’s question/statement is:

Name on thing that made you smile today.

Aloha for stopping by Pamela The Dust, Mary @ Adventures in Mommyland, Mary, Lori, Jerri, Dee, Amy @ Thoughts from the Mrs., Kathy, Holly Schwendiman, Kelleythejewelrylady, Stacey, Sher :), Jen E, Liza P. @ noses in books, Mozi Esme's Mommy, Brandi, Truly Tracey, Shannon, Shelley, Qtpies7, Donetta, Anne, Sharon, Renee, Jenni, Desi, Kelly@SHE-POWER, Sarah (Real Life), Andrea McMann, Jenn, TheAngelForever, Cathi, Happyathome, KarinGal, Deb - Mom of 3 Girls, Sagemom, Diana/sunshine, JHS, Liza's Eyeview, Aidan's Mommy, Forgetfulone, Kila, Desert Songbird, and Muthering Heights

Oh, my . . . a lot of things made me smirk and roll my eyes today. In my profession, that happens a LOT. I see a lot of stuff that makes me say, “And what the hell were you thinking when you did THAT?”

About the only thing that truly made me smile was coming home at the end of it and being met at the door by my dogs (Queen Sophia and Buddy-kins) — tails wagging, putting their little paws up on my knees happily begging for some love. Of course, I know that they were just checking me out to see if I brought them food, but I delude myself into believing they are happy to see me.

Ditto my kids who waved & mouthed “Hi, Mom” from their respective spots on the couches in the family room where they had another strenuous summer afternoon in the air conditioned home that I went to work today to provide for them. Not to mention the food in the refrigerator that they were raiding periodically whilst I was out smirking and rolling my eyes . . .

Such is the life of a working mother!

wait.. you didn’t tell us one thing that made you smile today =D

a lot of things made me smile today. but what made not only my lips smile, but my heart, too, was my son asking me to help him pick out a promise ring for his girlfriend. (shhh.. it’s a secret)

I smiled that I get to call Hawaii my home now. In fact, I’ve been smiling about it all week, since we returned from our vacation in our former home state of California. It’s like I’m under some kind of happy spell.

My son mastered the forward roll. He’s been doing it for awhile but he wasn’t tucking his head in so I was freaking out at the thought he might injure himself. Today he did it and the roll was perfect, and safe!

He was also showing me his break dancing moves or “flips” as he likes to call them and that made me laugh.

My young chickens. I awoke to hurry to see who it was crowing. I have another rooster to let go off. They sound like teenage boys when their voice cracks. very funny then to turn to see my husbands peaceful face upon his pillow. Nice start to my early morning.
Also my children are excited about going to school, I am so glad they are looking forward to it.
