What I Learned While On Vacation

Well, we’re finally back from vacation. We had such a wonderful and busy time and I have a mountain of dirty laundry to prove it!

For those who knew how much I was stressing about flying with the kids and wondered how it went, it wasn’t too bad. That is, if you don’t count the vomiting incident that Girlie Girl had (of course, it had to happen when I left to use the lavatory). Or when Baby Bug threw her french toast stick at another passenger’s head (boy, that girl has great aim). Or when the man in front of Baby Bug reclined his seat so far back that she kept trying to push it back up with her feet. *sigh*

But somehow we survived. And all my flight attendant friends on the flight thought the girls were so well-behaved. If only they knew. ;-)

Anyway, looking back on the past 10 days, I realized that I learned a lot of valuable lessons during our very first snow experience. For example:

  • You cannot push a stroller in the snow. Carrying that stroller with Baby Bug in it – uphill – was not fun either.
  • Your nose gets so cold that you can’t tell if it’s running.
  • It takes so long to get everyone bundled up in their snow clothes. Of course, it’s inevitable that they want to come back in the house within 10 minutes.
  • You can bury a bottle of Vitamin Water in the snow by your car and it will be perfectly chilled when you get back. Just don’t forget to mark where you put it.
  • Falling while ice skating can really hurt.
  • Ski Lodges are really hot! You go from 20 degrees outside to 100 degrees inside. Well, at least it felt that way to me.

All in all, we had a great time. It was wonderful to experience so many new things but the best time I had was just making a snowman in the backyard with the kids. That’s something I’ll always remember . . . and I hope they will, too.

BTW, for all of you who commented on DH’s exposed tootsies, I agree that he’s crazy. He’s always the one when the flight crew is huddling near the heaters while waiting for the hotel shuttle on layovers, he’s walking to the hotel without a jacket.

Giveaway: Wupzey – Mommy’s Helper

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Nicol of Classy and Sophisticated!
Congratulations!

Do you have a small child who insists on feeding themselves? Are you tired of constantly picking up sippy cups and utensils off the floor? And how about cleaning those plastic mats? NOT fun!

Wupzey to the rescue! Johanna, designer and owner, decided to make life a lot easier for parents by developing a way to catch all the food and items that get tossed from the high chair. Wupzey is lightweight, compact, and durable. And the best part is that it’s machine washable!

We were lucky enough to be able to test out this product for ourselves and found that we loved it. It took a little time for the initial installation because I needed to figure out where to place the velcro. However, you only need to do that once and you’re all set. I was skeptical about it holding a full sippy cut being thrown at full thrust, but it held up just fine. And what peace of mind it gave to know that I could just throw the whole thing in the washer when Baby Bug was done eating.

Want one for yourself? Wupzey is giving away their Highchair Food Catcher ($19.95) in your choice of color to one lucky person. To enter, just stop by their site before April 1st and check out Wupzey. Then come back and mention which color you would get if you won. That’s it! A random winner will be selected and notified on April 2nd.

To earn extra entries, just subscribe to my feed and/or mention this giveaway on your blog with a link back here and to Wupzey. Please let me know if you’re doing the extra credit so I can make sure you’re entered properly.

This giveaway is open to U.S. addresses only. Good luck!
