Announcing a New Carnival Contest ~ Starting this week, there will be a new monthly comment contest instead of a weekly one. Here’s how it goes:
- For every post you submit, you get one point.
- For every comment you make on a carnival entry, you get one point. You can leave a comment even if you didn’t submit a post for that week. However, you must be a CFL member. Don’t forget to put that you’re visiting from the Carnival of Family Life to help me keep track.
- If you host the carnival at your site, you’ll get 5 points. You can host once a month. First come, first served.
- The person with the most points at the end of the month (last carnival edition of the month) will be named “Outstanding Carnival Member” of the Month and will receive a $15 gift card to Amazon.com and a cool button to place in your sidebar (once I get one made).
- Any questions? Please feel free to email me.
The winner of last week’s contest was Lisa of Let’s Talk Babies! Congratulations! Please email me your mailing address and which prize you’d prefer . . . a box of chocolate covered macadamia nut candy or a bag of Kona coffee.
Until next week, take care and be safe.

Why Do You Blog?
January 28, 2007 by Kailani
I was over at Pass The Torch where she posted a very interesting article about people who decide to stop blogging.
Sometimes it’s unavoidable, as in my case. Sometimes it’s a lifestyle change like Mommy Needs a MaiTai. Sometimes it’s family responsibilities like Drama Queen’s Momma. All very legitimate reasons to take a step back.
But what about those that continue to blog day after day?
Is it a creative outlet? A social network? A feeling that you’re not alone in your chaos?
Why do you blog?
Sound Byte Saturday ~ Hawaiian Images

For Sound Byte Saturday you can post a video or audio clip on your blog to best sum up your mood for the past week as a Sound Byte Of The Week, or just for Saturday as a Saturday Sound Byte.
Basically, post anything that has sound like video, music, or even your own homemade sound bytes. If you want, you can explain your choice of Sound Byte, or not… and let us figure it out for ourselves. :O)
Simple, huh? She even has instructions on how to place the codes into your post as well as sites where you can get some great sound samples.
Why not join us for a little Saturday fun?
Here is my Sound Byte for the week. Since it’s the first edition, I had to represent the Aloha State with a video on Hawaiian Images. Courtesy of You Tube and jkpescador. Enjoy!

Photo Scavenger Hunt ~ Silver

This is the pendant that DH got for me as a Christmas gift.
It’s a sterling silver pendant. Inside are floating charms with the initials for both my girls, my favorite color heart-shaped gem stones, and a flower with the gem stone of the month we were married. On the back it’s inscribed, “What’s in your heart?”.
It’s my absolute favorite piece of jewelry!
What would you put into your heart?
